How do I make this space bar fit a Ducky Shine 3?
« on: Mon, 16 June 2014, 02:43:42 »
The space bar does not fit on a ducky g2 pro. Was curious why and how I can fix it?

(Image used is not mine. I rehosted on puush for posterity.)

See the white inserts in the stems?  Those are for use with costar stabilizers.  You need to remove them so that they will work on the Ducky which uses cherry stabilizers.

P.S. the subject mentions Shine 3 but the post mentions G2 Pro.  Anyway, both use cherry stabilizers.

Looks like your spacebar is slightly bent, is that correct?
If so that is probably the cause why it doesn't fit, Costar stabilizers usually have less problems with that. You can use a hairdryer and try to bend it straight.

As long as you're careful and don't overdo it you should be fine.

As you can see the stems are in the correct position but just slightly off. This is due to it not being straight. This happens on ABS  and PBT, too. As you can see here:

I'm not the only one who recommends the hairdryer method. Another method that gets recommended there is warm water.

Set it to a low temperature and use it gently, just warm up the spacebar slightly, check if you can bend it and if not warm it again. Small steps and patience is the key here.
