5 Row keypad
« on: Wed, 02 July 2014, 10:04:24 »
Is there a 5 Row keypad? I don't think I have come across one?

I was looking for one that would match the Poker II keyboard... but they are always 6 rows...
Does anyone have any accessories or key caps or other poker 2 related things lying around that they are not using?  I don't mind taking it off your hands if you no longer want it...

Aren't all keypads five rows?  Or are you looking for five columns.
Wish I had some gif or quote for this space, but I got nothing

I guess the ones I was looking at were 6 rows for some reason...

I was looking for keypads with a thin bezel.

Yeah there really isn't such a thing that is readily available. GHpad PCB and have a case 3D printed or some such to match the poker type case is more or less what you will have to do.
There are some 5 row keypad that are older made in 80's or early 90's from Genovation and a few others, but they don't have small case that will match the height of 60%.

Numpad layouts in general are pretty tired and uninspiring. I wonder if any human factors people have tried working on this problem since the 70s. From what I can see of products on the market today, everyone pretty much copied IBM’s ****ty design.

Here’s a simple sketch of something that might be better, while leaving the basics the same:

I’m sure with a more radical redesign, you could do a whole lot better.

Cool idea, but I would want the enter key on the corner as per usual.
