The correct number of keyboards to own is established by the following formulas:

Number of keyboards currently owned = n
Number of keyboards wanted = N
Number of keyboards which will cause your spouse/significant other to divorce/leave you = p

Solve for N, where N=n+1 and N=p-1

It should be: p = n + N - 1

The hard part is knowing p before getting to p!

I have to disagree once again.   :))

I think it should be N = p - n - 1 , which in your form would be p = n + N + 1 , rather than subtracting the 1.  The way you have it implies that the current number plus the number wanted is actually higher than the threshold for the wife getting mad, but the way my braing is imagining it you'd want the current plus wanted to be one fewer than the threshold.  Please correct if I'm wrong.   :)

But anyway, this is all irrelevant to single people!  My desired number of keyboards is infinite according to this!   :o

You are correct, my error.

But how do we count keypad in all that? are they considered 15% of a keyboard? Then does a full size keyboard counts as more than a TKL or 60%?

Hum, worth some thinking here  :-\

IMO, I would only count something with alphas as being a keyboard.  A numpad is an accessory to me, and meant to supplement.  And typically you'd pair it with a TKL or 60%, so the two of them together would equal one "full" keyboard.  But that's just me, I'm sure someone will disagree.  :P

I think it should be N=n and n=P-1.  The number of keyboards wanted should be the number of keyboards owned.  It should also equal 1 below the  threshold of renewing your match.com membership.  So if you own 9 keyboards and 10=divorce, N=n which is 9=9, and n=P-1, or 9=10-1.  It's basic algebra which is easy, but I cannot remember if two different variables can have the same value?  If not it will have to be tweaked.

If N=p-n-1, then N= 10-9-1, this implies that you want 0 keyboards.  I haven't taken algebra 101 in about 8 years.

I think it's "crazy" to own 50 keyboards.  This is a stack floor to ceiling.  I collect watches and I have just about 50 watches and to some this is also crazy.

For those who own this many, do you keep them in a closet or in original boxes?  Do you own dust covers?  Even for the one or two that sit on my desktop, if I don't keep a cover over them in 2 or 3 days they are full of dust.

I have 75 different model, maybe 100 in total. I have original boxes for only a few of them; the rest I keep in Dell boxes I got from a recycling centre, or stacked sideways in big normal boxes.

This actually wouldn't be bad to learn from someone who is versed in keeping a lot of keyboards. I have a feeling I might be racking up quite a few.
The wife is planning on making some mounts on a wall so I can display the ones I'm not currently using and I don't know if the wall will be big enough :))

Actually make that 3.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I've got two, a full size Quickfire XT with Cherry MX Reds, and a KBP V60 with new Cherry MX Blacks which I've had next to no issues with even though I've heard there are smoother options out there. I'm saving up for a custom build with Gateron Greens that I'm really looking forward to, which is tough to do since I've already bought a bag of switches for it. I haven't tried any clicky switches before, and I didn't want to get something with blues since I'm really not a fan of light switches.

That said I'm not sure how many I'd like to own. One or two seems like enough, but then again I'd really like to try out a whole plethora of switches. I still haven't typed on anything buckling spring, I'm gonna have to build something with Zealios eventually if these Gateron Greens are anything to go by, and I want to see if they hype surrounding Topre is really justified. And if the hype for Topre lives up to what I've heard I'd like to see if the various knockoffs of Topre are worth the Cherry MX keystem compatibility.

In my possession I have a unicomp model M and a HHKB(nice and quiet for the office), I just bought tonight an fk-2001( with ether alps white or alps white clones not sure which dont care which I'm just happy to get alps switches of some kind) and a model f xt(getting the sorars converter next check). So I guess I own 4 but am waiting on two. I want to get a beamspring, blue alps, a model M13(even though I have the unicomp equivalent), unicomp m 122, model F 122, unicomp space saver(if they ever make one), matias tactile pro mac, an mx blue black and clear/white, and logitech's new thing.  Once i get them I'll be all done, yes I basically want one of everything and multiple buckling spring(probably my end game switch).

Not sure if it counts but I also want a selectric II. ... yeah I have a lot of money spending ahead of me, at least one board a year is my goal. Good thing software development pays well.

I have two TypeMatrix 2030s, a bog standard $5 101-key rubberdome for my wife, an ErgoDox EZ. I also have a keyboardio Model 01 pre-ordered.

Apart from these, I want to own a contoured keyboard at some point, and likely a split AND contoured too, so a Kinesis Advantage and a Dactyl may be in my future. At this time, I am not interested in any other keyboards. Non-ergonomic is useless to me, and on the ergonomic front, I am okay with what I have, will have, and the two future options.

Since I do not wish to sell any of these, even if they become obsolete, in the end, I plan to own exactly seven keyboards.

I've got a Rosewill RK9000v2 and a Pok3r. My wife and friends already think I'm weird. Wait till I've got 10 or so floating around and 20 keycap sets. It will probably take years, though, because I waste a lot of money on rig parts, motorcycle parts, and guns.
Now witness the firepower of this fully-armed and operational battle station.
