What the heck is this switch?
« on: Tue, 05 August 2014, 19:53:24 »
I did my due diligence, but couldn't find anything that resembled this on the DT wiki, mousefan's site, and so on.  The closest is the TaiHao Aruz Anyone have a clue what it is?  Sorry I don't have a better picture, it's not my keyboard.

it appears to be a slider / spring over membrane type design, but it might be a rubber dome over membrane.

I think this is the Alps mount analogue of a MY switch. Looks like a Chicony? I came across one such in a fleamarket and it was equally as pleasant as MY.

I think he meant it was like MY, meaning spring(s) of some sort over membrane and not rubber dome.

The style of the case is very similar to my Oriental Tech OK-100M (which is indeed progressive rate spring over membrane) but it's not the same. There were quite a few keyboards in that style.

The keycaps appear to be Tai-Hao Alps mount double-shots, identical to mine — the keyboard should be documented on the wiki and then promptly harvested for its very nice keycaps.

It looks like the slider guide shafts are moulded into a plastic plate.

Is there not a label of any kind on the back? You might also find clues from what's written on the membranes.

It's this keyboard.  I did all the research I could on it, including an FCC ID lookup, but there's not a lot of details on it.  The caps looked pad printed to me, not doubleshots.  I just hadn't seen that switch before and was trying to figure it out.

Compare with these keycaps:

http://deskthority.net/wiki/Oriental_Tech_OK-100_series

They're identical. They will be a nice set of doubleshots, presumably Alps mount.

You can see them here on a Dell AT102W with some of the original laser-etched keycaps for comparison:
