They don't look to be in a great shape, but with some good elbow grease it's a nice opportunity to get a good deal!

Who got them? Is it you E TwentyNine?

Yeah, that sucks. Good thing you can mod them to accept a Model M spacebar.

FYI, it wasn't me, either.

I'm a really big fan of the blue sublegends on the keycaps. Nice and faded too. Pity it's missing the one.

Not easily, unfortunately.

It really isn't very hard, and then you have a lot of flexibility.

Are you referring to Kishy's method or modifying the brackets to accommodate the stabilizer from an M?

I don't know what Kishy's method is. I have made brackets to accommodate the larger Model M wires by bending sheet metal strips and gluing them down in place of the plastic tabs.

Wcass has a wonderful and elegant technique for sleeving the thin wires with thicker end pieces.

I have a few spacebar wires from wcass and it's excellent.

I must have been thinking of Wcass, not Kishy. Wcass's method is elegant, though somewhat involved.

As for the brackets, I'm not crazy about the thought of breaking them if they're perfectly intact, though I wonder if it might be possible to sand down the underside in order to provide the proper headroom.

You can try it. The Model M wire is MUCH thicker.

This stopped being an issue for me, because on the last few that I have modded I got rid of the stock tabs altogether and used barrel inserts for everything but the spacebar, and made tabs for Model M gear on those.

If you get the correct wire size for the F and bend it to the correct dimensions, you can melt the tabs on the M spacebar with a lighter to make the holes smaller, no further mods necessary.

Though wcass's tube sleeve trick is a nice neat approach.
