What would you call a Cherry MX Brown with Black springs?
« on: Wed, 24 September 2014, 13:33:11 »
Cherry MX clear with the lighter spring is an "ergo clear"... what's a cherry mx brown with the heavier spring?  just "stiffer browns" or is there a more widely accepted name I'm unaware of?

I like to call those: MX Brown stem with MX Black springs ;).

But if I recall correctly, that feels a lot like a stock clear to me.

Without the significant tactile bump of the clear, though, it shouldn't feel much like the stock clear.  At least to my fingers, the brown/clear stems feel massively different even with the same springs  (I use ergo clears).

Here's a list from the wiki: http://wiki.geekhack.org/index.php?title=Cherry_MX

It lists that as a "tacto-black".

This guy reviewed a bunch of different options and had this to say  ;)

F) Black spring with Browns – I did not like these. They felt like a bad version of stock MX Blacks. It was almost a linear feeling but a little catch at the bottom.  Occasionally I’d feel a bump but the bump really felt like a bad version of a cushion.

I knew I had saw some sort of list somewhere! Thanks for linking that.

Just get clears, the tactile bump feels better anyway.

I'd call them ****.

Browns already suck as it is, but with a Black spring, the bump would be practically unnoticeable and would just feel dirty.

True, but "dirty blacks" is not really the most politically correct name we can think of. :P

I like **** brown, but maybe Starbucks switches works.  After all, even if you add some sticky, sweet switch stickers or add creamy lube, it will still feel like ****.
