Secret Santa 2016 - OPENING GIFTS!

It's the weekend, I can officially (unofficially) open my SS gift 

Unfortunately, the shipping label gave away who my SS way, but that's ok.  It did say it was from Santa though so I knew not to open it right up.

Thank you SS for the awesome gifts and letter.  I love old games, and this converted just gives me a good excuse to pick up a SNES or Gamecube - gotta get me some F-zero, Super Metroid, and Paper Mario.

Yeah, I am pretty stoked.  Gonna hit up my local Bookoff and see if they have any decent SNES in stock.   Last time I was in, they had a Japan model Gamecube for $40ish.  Should have picked it up.  They usually have a ton of games as well (both US and JDM)

The absolute best picture quality for gamecube games is scart running out of a 1st gen nintendo wii.  A 2nd gen will require hardware mods and doesn't play gamecube games.  The Gamecube itself is a complicated beast because the US version does not output an RGB signal, you would need a PAL gamecube with a free-loader disc to output scart and the cables are hard to find.  My 1st gen wii outputs scart just fine and gamecube games look amazing upscaled through that converter box.  I can also guarantee that it works for ALL sega consoles under the sun, SNES, SNK systems, and a few others.

http://retrorgb.com/ will tell you about the best out-of-the-box cables for various classic (pre hdmi) consoles, and I use the site to determine which systems will output to scart.  ANY scart output will work with that box.

An MX Blue key chain with what looks like a resin-cast key cap! Neat!

A 65g lubed Zealio! Whoever sent this must know that vintage, and lubed modern, MX Clear are my favorite Cherry switches! This is easily the nicest tactile Cherry MX mount switch I've ever used. Plus it even has space for RGB LEDs. I'm tempted now to buy a set of these to upgrade a Rosewill RGB80 I got from a friend. (Too bad they're out of stock at zealpc.net.)

I'm pretty sure it's a Slim Adjustable. It was my maternal grandfather's, who was an old school type of guy...I will post more details later in the wet shaving thread; he was a cool fellow.

Again, I love the print and the rest of the stuff is very cool.

Got this package last week. Put in my closet and tried to forget about it (knife was not part of the package ):



Big bundle of bubble wrap inside...with an outer layer of goodies!  NES cartridge coasters I think; Contra, Excite Bike, and Mario were some of my favorite games growing up!  Way cool!  And lots of candy, nom nom!  And a C3PO mini figure...have to fight my kids off haha!



And now for the final package.  Oh my, dis gonna be good!  Goulet is a highly regarded fountain pen store!



Oh, snap, a CARBON FIBER fountain pen, and some new ink to go with it!  Y'all gotta understand, CF is one of my fav materials and I love FP's as well!  The perfect love child !



Can't stop now, gotta try it out!


Edit:  I was trying to imitate Goulet's business card with ink splats of my own...didn't work out how I planned and I ended up with ink on half of the chocolates LOL!

Whoever you are, thank you so much Santa!  TBH, I've had some very crappy days lately and this definitely lifted my spirits and got me into the Christmas groove. Thank you so so much!
