Yeah.

Please do not recommend that people spam to acquire posts.  That is incredibly counter-productive.

Also, please report people that do that.  If it's brought to our attention, we can and do take care of it.  :thumb:

signed up. hopefully i don't get stiffed like i did in a reddit exchange last year, i got stiffed by my giftee and rematch :(

that sucks =(

I had a lot of fun here last year and love my Christmas Taihao set (Doesn't fit on my boards currently though)

I got stiffed on another forum I visit. The guy even contacted me to tel me he's sending me something then never did.

My Reddit Tea gift exchange literally went to Davids tea, picked up an off the shelf set, walked to the post office and dropped it off in a padded envelope and shipped it. No card or anything. Felt kind of lousy when I went out to tea shops to find a few nice traditional teas with a good quality piece of teaware and even experimented the tea to find the best brewing method and wrote it all for them.

Anyway, can't wait for the one here!

As a note for anyone who gets me here: I listed a USA address but I won't get that until March at earliest so preferably have it at my Canadian address =)

This sounds like it should have been a ton of fun.

It was specific to /r/teaexchange which was promoted by /r/tea

Tea isn't too expensive. I spent about $100 last year between the 3 secret santas.

I saw all these pictures posted of unique teas from shops or home made blends and I got off the shlef davids tea from someone who was supposed to be more knowledgeable on tea. Just felt lousy tbh. I feel ingrateful / snobby but it is a gift exchange of tea enthusiasts...

Checking back in to register that my original comment was a joke, because like what has been said, it's pretty blatant when people mine for posts there. I thought the joke was obvious, sorry if it wasn't.

No worries, that's my bad.  As you said, it does happen quite a bit, so I just wanted to nip it in the bud right away.  :thumb:

Consider it nipped  :thumb:

But now I'm scared to type "nice board" on any threads ;)

Don't be afraid to post!  Nothing wrong with complimenting a board.  ;)  Just don't be obnoxious about it.
Nice post. Congrats!

I'm tempted to sign up, but even after 3 years, I'm still more of a lurker than anything else. Also I get paranoid that my giftee won't actually like what I get them...

Is there a rematch type thing that people can sign up for, like how reddit gifts does it?

Just sign up. If you put thought into it, that's what counts.

People should be happy no matter what they get. And if they arent, then probably werent gonna be happy unless they received a OTD board or something insane.

I'm not sure what you mean about the rematch thing, but if you're saying that if someone isnt happy with what they got / their santa didnt send anything, people will usually be kind and at least send a little something to them so they dont miss out.

My santa and rematch santa both stiffed me as well, and I spent 75$ on kirbal space program merch for my giftee

From my own personal experience and others I've seen here, if you get stiffed out of a gift, plenty of others will step up and put something together for you.  I wouldn't worry about it.  Plus, as corny as it sounds, the giving part is its own gift.  :)

I won't lie, there are some ****ty gift givers on here, but no one has ever been stiffed and not gotten something after their Santa screwed them.  And every santa who has screwed people has been banned.

Yea I'd be cool helping out with a rematch if I have any money left after the holidays

I love my gift from last year and I hope my giftee last year liked mine (and didn't just say he did =S)

I agree, and this is how I approach gift giving. If you get stiffed, that person knows what they are doing...well, hopefully. Some people have zero remorse.  :'(
