BTW as with the last one, are the PCBs going to be made in batches of 24? Because that's going to cause an issue unless its going to be first in best dressed ;p

Yes in multiples of 24. So we're aiming for 24 first. Let's just see what the majority wants. I'm down for either colour. Might just change it to a single choice (white or red) if everyone is okay.

I wanted a black one...! That said, I'm down for R2.

Can someone explain to this newbie (first time attempt to build a custom KB) the options?

I know Diodes are the things that are required for switches to work. What about side LEDs? What are those?

for illumination of the keyboard case.

This is applicable only when you have a translucent acrylic case. The LEDs are on the underside of the board, and point outwards.

GONs cases make use of this illumination capability. This isnt limited to GONs cases, such as the recent massdrop acrylic case, or other earlier acrylic cases.

Cool that makes sense.

I plan to go with a Hammer case! Do you know if those will fit?

Also is the Nerd60 fully backlit capable?

I would like to solder LEDs for every switch.

The PCB will fit any poker housing. Though the hammer isn't transparent so there is no point having LEDs on the underside. The NerD 60 is also fully backlit compatible so go nuts with your lighting :))

I don't know what to choose, I have 2 faceU boards with red PCB and is really nice, I'm getting a white faceW from sprit's GB and have the Black NerD60 which is really awesome.
I think I would go with white, but maybe we should go the extra mile and do something really crazy like an orange PCB. The orange PCB + black MX switches housing = GH Nostalgia and one thing is for sure, an orange PCB was never ever produced, just a thought

I would prefer a white on the grounds of backlight flexibility. It would help reflect the light from the backlight LEDs, and allow you use any colour without affecting the colour.

Also looks good on a fully clear/translucent case.

My next (haha) dream 60% would be the GON crystal case with wireless. Hopefully that will be coming to the 60% some time in the future.

Wow that was exactly why I wanted white!

I envision something like:

White stickers, clear switch, clear switchtops, white pcb, titanium/silver plate, then you can add whatever colour LEDs and it will be super bright :D

Case wise I'm still hoping for a Hammer case.

Let's make it happen.

Not yet on NerD60, maybe in the future.

Regarding the color, I will buy whatever will be in the end, I'm crazy about 60% boards, and after I got my Black NerD60.... well I must get a second
If it's white I will have an acrylic sprit case that just screams side LED's :P

See this is why I really want a white PCB since I have the acrylic case coming in ;D originally I settled with black, but white would be even better. And besides I'm planning 2 60%s anyways so it doesn't really matter that I have a spare PCB lying around for a while ^^

Aren't the new acrylic GONs done with white PCBs? Maybe he will release the new 60% wireless one with a white pcb.

That be true. White might be a standard. I guess with that in mind, then Red might be the way to go. Unless people want to get yellow. I actually want a yellow one but didn't suggest it because I don't think it will reach numbers. ;) hahahaha

Awesome! White is as a standard is much better than the regular green PCBs. What would also be cool for future runs is maybe matte colored PCBs.

Changing Colors from Green needs extra cost. So, stock white NerD 60 will be $55($53+$2). ;)
Even though I have made/assembled/tuned HUNDREDs of keyboards for others, I myself don't have a full-tuned Custom Keyboard now.
So Ironical!

HELLOO.

So far, there's 8 response but majority seems to prefer white. Maybe we should just concentrate on white for this round ?
I have a white pcb actually but I don't mind getting another white. If we're concentrating on white, I'll change the first post if that's alright.
BTW, I've talked to GON. He said there might a new version in a few months time. If so, should we wait for it ? Of course, the price would be adjusted.
As usual, I'll try and update here as soon as I get any new updates.

Well, I would say go for it. A good quality keyboard/pcb is a good investment, with good resale value. Untill a new version is released you can enjoy this one and when the time comes upgrade, there is always someone interested in a good board, especially a GON NerD :thumb:
I would love a wireless NerD60 ;) but until that is available I luke some high quality board to type on

A version 2.0 white 60% is obviously the cat's ass but I'm fine with reselling the 1.0 board and buying the 2.0 board when ready.

Wireless programmable 60% with Universal frame and Matias quiet click or nice ergo clears,  trampoline Browns is darn near perfect.
