Well-used and smooth GMK keycaps?
« on: Sat, 04 October 2014, 09:14:44 »
Hi, so I'm aware that GMK's keycaps are using original Cherry molds and everything.

I just want to hear some first hand experiences on how GMK keycaps feel after they're "smooth" and worn down a bit.

I see lots of pictures of mint ones, and personally own oldschool Cherry keycaps that were salvaged from old boards, but let's see some pictures of newer GMK stuff that's been well-used  :thumb:

How do they feel?

Not sure if anyone has thoroughly worn down a GMK set yet.

Worn shiny keys feel like worn shiny keys. Feel kind of glassy/slippery.

For what it's worth I quite like the look and feel of a quality product that has been thoroughly put through its paces. There's something respectable about using these keyboard heavily rather than babying them.

True enough, I'm sure it's why a lot of people want GMK keycaps. Was just hoping to see a few pictures, to appreciate it so to speak.

I'll take a picture when I get home. Its not a full set just a few caps off a donor board that I use on my numpad. But yeah like people have said here, pretty slick and slippery. Not really like a greasy or oily slippery, just like an incredibly smooth surface would be.

Well worn GMK feels exactly the same as old and worn Cherry caps, whether you like it or not it's a personal preference.
This sucks more than anything that has ever sucked before.

Worn shiny keys feel like worn shiny keys. Feel kind of glassy/slippery.

Actually, my experience is the opposite. Worn Cherry doubleshots feel more grippy to me. Still smooth though. I enjoy the feeling. And it's compounded by the fact that, once they're worn, you don't have to worry about wearing them.

Same here. Grippy and smooth, not slippery at all.
