What is the collective opinion on using vinyl wrap to cover up an old keyboard? Is it a crime against taste or a method of restoration?
To continue the title........
That is the question--
Whether 'tis Nobler in the mind to suffer
The dings and scratches of a yellowed polymer,
Or to take 3Ms against surface of troubles,
And by opposing, end them? To dye, to wrap--
No more; and by a wrap, to say cover
The Heart-ache, and the hundred four alp clacks
Plastic is heir to? 'Tis a mantelleta
Devoutly to be stitched. To dye, to wrap
To wrap, perchance to clean; Aye, there's the rub.
For in that wrap of black, what stains may come,
When we have shuffled off this carbon fiber,
Must give us pause. There's the respect
That gives Model M's of so long life:
For who would bear the hits and strokes of time,
The Presser's thumb, the proud MX Cherry,
The pangs of Locked CAPS, 6KRO delay,
The insolence of OSKey, and the spurns
That keyed merit of the membrane takes,
When he himself might his custom make
With rubber spatula? Who would the WASD bear,
To hunt and peck under an old finger,
But that the dread of something after Ctrl,
The undiscovered tenkey, from whose five
No accountant returns, puzzles spacefill,
And makes us rather bear 5th rows we have,
Than fly to others we know not of.
Thus TKL does make peckers of us all,
And thus the native hue of plastic
Is sickelied o'er with the UV rays of light,
And devices of fine pitch and layout,
With regard to their appearance turn awry,
And lose the name of excellence. Soft you now,
The fair Dell AT101W in all thy orisons
Be thou all my sins remembered.
