Soldering advice/questions.
« on: Tue, 28 October 2014, 12:13:23 »
I want to learn how to solder and I hear it's easy to learn so I'm asking here for some advice before I start.

I want to buy a nice soldering kit for the long run. Any one have a suggestion for one?

What kind of solder should you use for keyboards?

What other tools should you have handy when soldering keyboards?

Lastly any tips or tricks?

Thanks GH! Cheers.

mkawa mentioned that there's gonna be a learn to solder kit curated by GeekHackers on Massdrop. It's almost certainly gonna be awesome. There's a ton of good info in The Living Soldering Thread.

This is helpful:

Michael Wolff says he urged Epstein to release information he had on Trump, but Epstein appeared worried about what Trump would do to him.
Epstein told him, “I may be a pervert, but I’m not crazy.” Epstein continued, "Trump is a man without any scruples.”

That sounds awesome. I should probably hit up lekashman for more info then.

In all seriousness that's what I learned to solder from. I also watched some youtube videos.

WhiteFireDragon's YouTube keyboard tutorials were what I watched to learn about modifying keyboards. His videos covered everything from soldering to switch modding. Really helpful.

Any recommendations on a $100-$150 kit that should cover everything I need to get started?

Wait for mkawa's Learn to Solder kit coming out on Massdrop if you want an all in one kit.

Pace (basically what the usa government complex uses) soldering tutorials are still almost entirely relevant, and are quite educational:
