Some very obscure Cherry stuff
« on: Thu, 13 November 2014, 15:06:48 »
Some pictures I've accumulated that I think are worth posting. No idea what the model numbers are. These are all unique, and I don't think any more than 1 of each has been found.

If anyone has any ideas about model numbers or sources please do share. Mainly interested in the single-letter code for Hebrew..

I think kbdfr on DT might have a Hebrew board, maybe drop him a pm.

edit - actually, might have been Arabic now I think about it...

I also have something. This little teal/turqoise keycap seems to be a legit Cherry cap. Absolutely no idea where this could be from. Found it in a small box in the attic, currently using it on my Viper.

Oh, and I guess if we're doing obscure ****, this probably qualifies. I got it from sixty who doesn't know/remember where it came from. Apologies for ****pics.

edit - the green key is the interesting one, it's probably the most useless key from a UK ISO board but nobody knows why it's green or where it came from...

Very rare, I doubt you will ever see a second one. I have no idea where it came from. In fact I don't think I ever showed this around before this sale at all  :?
I don't use the UK layout, so in the "webwit's no foreign layouts zen approach" - I wanna let this go. Give me some reasonable offers.

Well the one on the left looks like a qwertz numpad key, unless you're focusing on the green one, which is funky

Yeah, the green one is the obscure one, the other is just another random Cherry cap I had laying around.

There was that 'green' 1800 board I believe it was a similar color.

Hmm, combination of three symbols:

¬ - logical not
' - apostrophe or comma or single quote?
| - pipe

TA-ish board

Those caps look great, any more info on the board? I need to find a set of those caps or ones that look like them.
People in the 1980s, in general, were clearly just better than we are now in every measurable way.

The dumber the reason the more it must be done

Get in on Feng's cyan/white set buy, then put it under UV light for 10 years and you'll be good to go.

It's the key that sits to the left of the number 1 key on a UK ISO board - `¬¦ it's just the colour of this one that makes it obscure.

Usless trivia, the third symbol is wrong on the cap, it should be a broken pipe - pipe sits on the key to the right of the left shift for UK ISO, indicated by a broken pipe symbol of course...although this isn't unique to that particular cap or to Cherry sets in general IIRC.

:)) I think I'll just try to find one of those keyboards.

It's the only one that's been found, so GL!

And missing two caps?  That's one of the saddest things ever.

the first hebrew set in the first picture belongs to josh. he only got the keycaps, not the original board.

imsto and Tony are in cahoots to make this set including the arabic and maybe some other sets in their upcoming gb's.
