cheap numpad / keypad with reds?
« on: Wed, 10 December 2014, 18:13:42 »
Hi, I need a cheap numpad with cherry mx reds, as cheap as possible.
Backlighting and extra buttons aren't needed, and I would actually prefer that they aren't included, as I will probably be getting a tkl that doesn't have backlighting, and would like it to match. Cherry mx reds are a must.
I'm considering the tesoro tizona combo, but it's pretty ugly looking to me and I would prefer other choices. Thanks in advance!

Leopold 210tp is a pretty plain looking one, though I know there was something about it sending number row codes instead of numpad numbers

Both of those look really nice, a massive improvement to the tesoro tizona, but I don't see any editions of them with mx reds, which I unfortunately need, or at least maybe other linear switches, such as blacks, but that would be rarer to find anyway. Are the ugly tesoro tizona numpads the only ones with mx reds?

I just ordered a Leopold FC210TP from widebasket on ebay and it sends the correct numpad codes and not the number row codes. My FC210TP is in MX reds.

EDIT: Despite the actual product description saying that it sends the wrong codes, mine does in fact send the correct ones. So YMMV I guess.

Sweet, thanks! This didn't show up on the australian ebay, but it says it apparently ships worldwide, so I should be able to grab a pair. The wrong codes or whatever isn't a big deal, it's a bit of functionality lost but it's definitely not a deal breaker. The price is fairly attractive as well. Any other similar numpads without the code problem? If not, I'll probably end up buying these, I'm a fan of the simplistic, plain look.

Yeah, I dunno. From what I could find between a Filco numpad and this Leopold numpad, it's basically YMMV for both in terms of getting one that sends numpad codes. I was fully expecting mine to send number row codes since the product description stated it sends number row codes and I contacted the seller and he also said it sends number row codes, but I ended up being pleasantly surprised when I found that my numpad did infact send numpad codes and not number row codes.
