OMG, Chinese stuff is perpetually getting cheaper and cheaper. And free shipping too?

Even with my declared disinterest in Topre and general abandonment of standard layout, this is so tempting that... I better forget it.

I have been lpoking into topre and thought the novatouch was revolutionizing. This is something to take note, a full size keyboard other than the realforce.

We really need CPTbadass or someone in the know to make a side by side comparison of Realforce, Novatouch and Noppoo. But the way it looks now, I believe Noppoo is doing the right thing. Novatouch looks strongly overpriced in comparison.

I have only owned one Noppoo before but I did not consider it lousy. Isn't it a pretty decent brand without major complaints?

Novatouch looks strongly overpriced in comparison.

If the Novatouch came in a programmable 60% format with stock TaoHao doubleshots and uniform 30g weighting I'd feel better about dropping two bills.

Inconsistant and fading caps, chattering, warped casing, etc.  I owned a Choc Mini and sold it.  IMHO PLU, Plum are much better values if you want cheap chinese boards.

Of course, for $25, I'm not sure you can complain

I too owned a Choc Mini. It had PBT keycaps and I liked the quality. The casing was perfect, for instance. I really liked the casing. But based on what you're saying, it seems there is some inconsistent quality ie possibly they don't have good quality control.

Ultimately it is quality control that matters. A cheap OEM can probably produce as good or better than a better OEM if one is having a good day and the other a bad day. But difference is that the cheap OEM will not bother to scrap the products of a bad batch, whereas the quality OEM will test and dump the products of a bad batch.

Do I have to draw them and then get them professionally 3d printed to get them at a good price. Is there a reason we are not doing this yet?  I think GH would get behind a GB of these if we did it.

Swill, I think this has something to do with the capabilities of commonly available 3D printers. These can only handle plastic with low melting points.

POM, the material for Cherry MX stems, softens at 160C. So to print the sliders, we will need something that can endure high temperatures.

Also the commonly available 3D printers are still very crude and suitable only for prototyping. They can't handle precision work and the printed stems will have keycap fitment issues, etc.

Actually I think the Topre fans should experiment with getting MX keycaps to fit Topre instead. The Cherry MX stem is just slightly smaller than the Topre stem in diameter IIRC. The Topre is round and hollow. Has anyone tried wrapping a Cherry MX keycap's stem in tape and just sticking it into the Topre opening?

Hope he's just delayed. Even though I am not a Topre fan, I do like the concept of being able to create your own stems. What works for Topre, could eventually be applied to Model Fs as well?

Yes that is what I mean. If we got them professionally done we could probably have more choice of material.
