Cool, thanks for sharing!  I really like that the NerD logo is embossed on the case now.  Looking forward to seeing more pics!  I have an earlier NerD TKL and love it a lot.

I really love the etching! I should recommend to you though that instead of bending the pins to solder them that you use some tape instead. Often when you bend the pins like that before soldering the joint isnt quite as strong and if you were to try and desolder you would run into issues removing the solder between the bet part of the pin and the pad.

How did you go about soldering the SMD parts?

I forgot to watch this thread the last time i saw it, watched!

Also are the LED's supposed to be soldered flat? i thought they were supposed to be on their side so that it shines directly into the PC layer.

No it's flat, the LEDs still shine predominantly out the sides.

Looking good!  Those white LEDs?

these are the yellow leds. im planning on white leds for the switches.

How did you go about soldering the SMD parts?

im just using a $15 soldering iron from radio shack and a pair of tweezers to hold resistors/leds

I forgot to watch this thread the last time i saw it, watched!

http://www.gonskeyboardworks.com/manuals/129-nerd-side-ledsmd-led-soldering.html

i think soldering on their sides will get them a bit brighter, but i put the pcb in the housing and it is bright enough for my tastes. And because this was my first time soldering SMD leds, I decided to go with the simpler route.

EDIT: I did get my switches, switch stickers, switch leds, resistors, and stabilizers in the mail yesterday.
