http://www.ebay.com/itm/Razer-DeathAdder-3500DPI-Gaming-Mouse-Mechanical-Gaming-Keyboard-Blue-Backlit-/151542405299?pt=Mice&hash=item2348a198b3

Found this, figured someone else might be willing to take the risk on it.  I went in for one, cheap enough to take a gamble.

The keyboard is a Genius chinesium grade backlit TKL that claims to have Cherry Blues.  I did a little research, and I think that these actually use Kailh switches.  Based on this aliexpress page, the keyboard looks to be partially backlit, with Kailh black, and an aluminum case.

The mouse looks legit.  You can find them on eBay for ~$33 and on amazon for ~$42.  If you play your cards right, and you don't want the mouse, you could flip the mouse to cover the price of the keyboard.  This means you net a free chinesium keyboard for your trouble.

EDIT: I just checked the link, and the seller seems to have depleted his stock of 20 sets.

Ordered two.

chinesium....nice....:D
Well the mice might make for decent gifts...and I get to try Kailh switches...and who knows..maybe the case can stand up on its own.
Lot of hope but whatever.  Worst case I just have more things to give away.

I'll do a review first of course :)

I supposed you could always gut the keyboard and if it has a plate direct wire some cherry mx switches using the case.

Have a bunch of unused Enablers as well...so...let's see what happens.

Expectations:
Flimsy plastic case
Thin PCB with folded over pins and poor solder job
Caps made from plastic bottles

If anything passes these expectations I will be thrilled.

I bought one bundle for tinkering. Thanks for sharing this offer  :thumb:

There is no risk in screwing up the board if it's so dirt cheap :D

Seller no longer is a registered EBay member.

Should I go through eBay resolution team?  Getting worried.

That is probably the best idea.

Right now you are still under Paypal protection right?

Oh wow, that doesn't bode well.  I hope I didn't screw over people by linking this.

I'm going to hold off contacting the resolutions department though.  A few reasons:
  • The user had a decent number of previous transactions.
  • I received a message from eBay and the seller saying the item had shipped. Expected delivery in 18-45 days.

Economy shipping from China is kinda weird.  They wait until they fill up a "packet" which is really just a shipping container from that region, then send everything bulk overseas.  The earliest I've gotten something from China is about a week and a half, the longest was 4.5 weeks.  It is hard to pin down when it gets shipped unless you have the packet number/tracking number.  However, if the delivery does not arrive by Feb. 26th, which is the outside bound of the shipping estimate by eBay, I will contact the resolution center.  The account will be there on the 26th.  I know I ordered on Jan. 6th, and the account was deactivated sometime between then and now (Jan. 26th).  The site said that all deactivated accounts are kept visible for 60 days after shutdown to prevent issues, so I have plenty of time.

A few questions: Did you get an eBay sale confirmation? Did you get a message from the user after shipping? Did you get an eBay message after shipping?

I got everything you listed.

As long as I am under paypal protection I will not fill in a complaint either.

Let's hope for the best  :thumb:

I got confirmation and everything.

But went ahead and processed a refund and got it instantly.  I guess eBay doesn't trust this guy either.  I didn't want to wait until eBay/PayPal says "its too late for a refund"

You guys can hang tight.  Please let me know how the keyboards are (if you ever get them).

You got a refund even though the shipping is confirmed? If you get the shipment in, will you be responsible for returning it to the seller, or are they just taking it on faith?  Keeping the product after getting your money back could be considered a form of chargeback scamming.

I put in a request for the item, not a refund.  EBay jumped to refunding me.  So I assume no item.  If I get my item I'll pay the seller.

I agree; we need to act wisely with such things.

Taking something and keeping it after you’ve gotten a refund is unethical and illegal.

But I’m guessing ebay did the processing because they didn’t trust the seller, and Defect wanted to get a refund because he didn’t feel comfortable with seller’s actions. And why is seller not a registered member anymore? Methinks seller was deregistered by ebay after ebay discovered seller may have been using a hacked account (remember last year there was a big ebay account hacking problem). So ebay and Defect were both acting on caution.

One thing I feel strongly sympathetic about for Chinese sellers - they often do the wrong thing because they don't know the rules/ they don't know how things work. They suffer unnecessary losses due to miscommunication and taking misunderstood actions. I hope seller was rightfully deregistered for dishonesty, not deregistered because they didn't dot some i or cross some t in ebay's paperwork.

@berzerkfan,

I have no intention of keeping stolen goods.  In fact, I only escalated an eBay claim (for shipment confirmation, not refund) because the seller is delisted and I received no shipment or tracking info.  I thought eBay would allow the seller to respond.  EBay was quick to refund me without even following up with the seller.

This makes me feel like something fishy us going on.  That said, I pay for my goods.  $50 honestly won't even put a dent in my monthly keyboard budget.  I'll gladly pay when I receive communication that I can expect delivery of my goods.

Let's see what happens.

I hope you don't think I was implying you were doing something unethical.  The advantage of a community like this is that it tends to alienate toxic members rather quickly.  The ethics are beside the point, which is Paypal.

In the past, Paypal has had a heavy hand toward people caught attempting any sort of scam, guilty or otherwise.  The notion is that they try to compensate for having their hands tied on the bulk of cases by making examples of the rest.  Of course, you could probably successfully argue your innocence, but this would take time.

Just stay safe.  Make sure you are very verbose and precise when you take this course to provide evidence to back up your story should it ever come to that.

Hey Defect

I hope I wasn’t misunderstood! I wasn’t implying that you would keep stolen goods. My reply #16 was nuanced as I wanted to cover the different possibilities.

As I’d said in that post: “ebay did the processing because they didn’t trust the seller, and Defect wanted to get a refund because he didn’t feel comfortable with seller’s actions… ebay and Defect were both acting on caution.”

As a guy who has filed more complaints than he wants to, I have a tendency to act too cautiously so I know it is very unpleasant when the item does show up after a few more weeks, and then I am forced to re-pay the seller and apologize humbly.

Also from my experience, Chinese delivery is very inaccurate and unreliable. Sometimes they come within 2 weeks (to Singapore). Sometimes it takes 8 weeks. Since paypal claim window is 45 days and I usually file around 43 days, this means that a significant fraction of my purchases from China wind up disputed. But you can’t not file either, because sometimes the item really does not turn up after a few months.

Necro'd!

Anybody have any updates on this?  I sent an issue ticket through eBay since I have pretty much lost all hope that this is coming.
