Neat little project coming up.
« on: Thu, 08 January 2015, 00:11:52 »
I thought I would share and let you know what my next little project is.

I did purchase that Blue Label IBM 1370477 keyboard on Monday.  It hasn't arrived yet.  I'm still waiting on it.  I was a little ambitious about it having 1-piece keycaps, so I broke down and purchased the Unicomp RGB keyset with green legends for it.
These keys are not in pebble/pearl.  I got them in brilliant white.
This will be interesting! I thought it would be fun to do.
It will probably look pretty cool.  We will see.
And if it doesn't, I can always put the originals back.

Yeah and the next thing is having 68 LED's put in!  I can't wait!  BLING!

Edit: Naaaa, it will kill the power draw from my PC.  I guess I will miss out on the extra 20MHz speed-up from doing that!
I thought everyone knew their computers go faster with that!

If it doesn’t work, you can always dye them.

That's an idea too.  It's no big deal.  I thought it would be fun to have something different.
I still think it will look pretty good.  We'll see.

Also, I don't think Nubbinator even has a clue as to what I am doing.  All he knows is how to make those artisan caps that he sells for ungodly amounts of money that serve no purpose whatsoever.  I'd rather buy something that has a purpose.  The kids these days have to have a bunch of glowing crap instead of a real keyboard anyway.  I love his latest post about giving away his CRACKED cap to someone like it's so special.  Awww time for another 3d print Nubbies.

Then do something constructive and make something that I would be interested in.  I didn't impose on your thread with my opinion, did I?  YOU started this.

Not to be offensive, but I think people would be more interested if you posted this after you did the project. Also, there was no need for that attack on nubbinator. Having said that, it sounds like a cool project so I will enjoy seeing the results.

Yeah I should have posted this after I got everything done. Oh well.

And yeah I shouldn't be so offensive.  I guess I am misunderstood.  I probably wouldn't have said anything to Nubbinator at all if I didn't take it to heart.  Where's my common sense anyway?  I let personal feelings get in the way.

Okay the caps came in the mail today.  Everything except the BW Spacebar.  I was told it was included in the package.  It wasn't.  Anyway I will move forward with this tomorrow or Saturday.

This is the keyboard as it sits stock.  I like it better stock anyway.  I'm gonna save those keys (and the spacebar) for a future project.
Strange, these keys actually respond better, or maybe it is my imagination.  OH!  The Shift keys respond better!  Anyway.
Yes this keyboard was born on 9/11/95 who'd a thunk it?
