I do believe they are engraved Selectric type keys.

Not entirely sure but they do not look pad printed at all. The keycaps do not seem to be the ones that lend themselves to that sort of thing, and there is no noticeable shine on the keycaps or what would look like clear tape surrounding the characters that would be associated with pad printing. Also it's pretty old which would also decrease the likelihood of it being pad printed.

It looks pretty nice.  I'm pretty sure they are engraved, I'm sure someone has that keyboard here.  They would know for sure.

Doubleshot. The side text is printed though and does wear off.

My guess is that they're double shot; black on white.

I wish Unicomp would make some of these for Buckling Springs.

Doubleshot. The side text is printed though and does wear off.

That would be my second guess.  But yes, they look very nice.  I wish they would make them still today.  That keyboard looks pretty nice to type on.

Edit: Put that on a 101 key layout, and I'm sold!  *chuckle*  Does anyone have this keyboard to actually verify this?  I am really curious!

It will not work on your Model M.  They're beam spring.

Yeah too good to be true!  They look really nice.  Do you know if they are double shot or engraved keys?

To be fair, the IBM Beam Spring Keyboards wiki entry doesn't actually describe the keycap printing methods.

I must have seen photos at some stage to confirm that they're doubleshot (I lose track), but anyone who does know has never recorded it on the wiki. I'll leave the use of Google as a reader exercise.

I am asking an honest question.  Selectric keys were engraved, and this board is built around 1977.

Selectric keys were engraved

Source?
Let's see.  How about a picture of a Selectric Blue with engraved keys?  I'm not doubting anything.  My guess is the white keys are dye-subliminated and the black keys are engraved, or they all are engraved.  I'm no authority on this particular subject, but the discreet points on the keys themselves makes me wonder because doubleshot printing is usually curved and not sharp and pointed.  But then again, it is an IBM, and they may have made extremely precise doubleshot methods.  That's all.  I'm not doubting anyone.  I want to know myself.

I have a question.  Does that mean that maybe that particular typewriter may have aftermarket engraved keys on it?  I've only used the selectric in my high-school and didn't pay attention that much to know if they were double shot or engraved.  I have seen one or two in real life and they did have engraved keys on them.  Usually painted with a very thick paint.
I want to know the truth too.

OP is not a typewriter.  As has been pointed out already, it is a beamspring keyboard.
