tactile green alps board
« on: Sat, 17 January 2015, 02:17:00 »
http://www.ebay.com/itm/261738034098

Xerox Docutech 135, super rare, only board I know of with tactile green Alps switches 1 2 3. Much more rounded force curve than most Alps switches, like a lighter version of Brown Alps.

Hard to tell what the switch condition is, probably not too amazing (I got one that was in terrible shape with quite scratchy switches) but could probably be cleaned up (or the tactile leaves and sliders could be swapped into housings from better condition alps switches, e.g. white or salmon). Keycaps are nice thick Alps dyesubs with kind of fun maroon on off-white color scheme, except one doubleshot cap.

Very early optical mouse is also kind of fun, and was supposedly pretty great for its day, though probably useless now.

If anyone remembers that Custom “DOKIU SAVER” TKL keyboard that some Korean guy was trying to sell for $1000 on eBay a year ago, it used switches harvested from one of these plus keycaps from an SGI AT101, and an aluminum case. Geekhack threads: 50019 50467 52369 53715

Are there any remaining pictures of that DOKIU SAVER thing? All the ones that were on ebay are gone now and no one bothered rehosting any to put in those geekhack threads. It wasn’t worth $1000 probably, but it was kind of neat.

As far as I understand that one was one of a kind. But if you can read and write Korean you could try to ask on the Korean keyboard forums.

If only I had a Korean friend around who could help me out. I guess I'll be holding onto my alps donor board for quite a while until we get an Alps project buy going.

I remember someone claiming there was actually more than 1 -- but still a very small quantity. Don't know if that's true.
