I actually quite like the look of that keyboard, though I'm not a huge fan of the side hump (but don't really dislike it either). At least the USB ports are on the proper side now... Nothing like having a USB drive stick out of my numpad, making me get a second desk for my mouse because it's so far away. TKL with left-side ports... much better.  :cool:

The finish and overall look appeals to me. I'm not super crazy about the build quality of my Das Keyboard 3 though, so I'm not sure what to make of this. I'm hoping it'll show up at Canada Computers locally so I can give it a go.

I just found that on a review and was going to post back. Never heard of them.

Apparently the top of the keyboard is anodized aluminum, which is a nice touch.

For the most of modest of change. Not much would be needed to change it to this, and you can have all the benefits of the left side USB ports without wasting desk space.  Kaput.
Edit: If this actually comes out as the 4D they better give me one with a thank you letter included. (I know pretty much that isn't gonna happen LOL!  But the change would be nice!) 
I guess that would be called the "professional" with the key letters.  I submitted all three concepts to them.
If I didn't care I wouldn't suggest anything and shrug my shoulders.

Greetech switches are also used in A4tech and Royal Kludge products. For comparison on price, RK boards with Greetechs are 299 yuan ($47.85) for the regular version, and 419 yuan ($67.05) for the RGB backlit version (also compare that to the prices Corsair charges for their RGB boards!). Interestingly, they (RK) also say that Greetech was at some point OEM for Honeywell. Reviews say pretty much the same things as they do with Kailh-- feels more or less like Cherry MX, with maybe some slight differences or inconsistencies. As with Kailhs, it's hard to know how much of the difference is reality and how much of it is people noticing inconsistencies that they wouldn't notice on Cherry switches because of the difference in expectations.

Even if it did have Cherry switches, it's still just a TKL with ABS keycaps. There's nothing about this keyboard that makes it worth even close to that price, IMO.

I'm assuming they're charging the premium because of the USB pass through + aluminum top plate.

But considering they're using 3rd party switch their price should be lower.

Das is trying to compete with Apple in terms of charging a premium because their products are "cool".

I think what disappoints us the most is the design.  They get that wrong.  Then they change the switches.  They get that wrong.  Then they overprice the keyboard by 35% and expect it because it's what everyone wants.  They will still have buyers because of the name and devoted customers.
I just hope that DAS takes things seriously, rather than go with the marketing thing.  But we have already seen this with Cherry themselves.  All hype and latest and greatest until they get a new model everyone wants again.
