Budget Keyboard for relative
« on: Tue, 10 March 2015, 17:12:53 »
Looking for around $40-60 keyboard, prefer crisper typing experience than a membrane, but a keyboard that isn't known to be too loud either, as its used in shared room.  For non-tech savy that just wants a good typing experience at non-enthusiast price :x  Mini/tenkeyless or full size are both fine.

EDIT: Needs a USB (not PS2) also x_x

I recommend the Logitech K810. Refurbished on eBay for $60. You can find it at any big box to smash on a bit. Very low profile with a subtle chiclet-style feedback made for a fairly crisp typing experience, so, much better than a regular membrane IMO. Features include three dedicated keys for 3-device BT switch, backlight, and rechargeable battery.

This is nice but I'm really looking for something with minimal features/complexity.  They are fairly tech-illiterate and will end pressing every wrong button and forgetting to charge it and then I will be 1st one they call when it "breaks" Zzz

I bought my mom a Monoprice with MX Blues for 45 dollars a couple years ago and it's still going stronk (they go on sale often and are in and out of stock constantly)

This is what I was going to recommend.  They aren't the quietest but they aren't the loudest either.

Best find so far... just wish it was in stock ZZz *and cherry red or maybe browns.  None of them are umm proper typists so I was thinking a tactile key would help em get into the whole thing

With Browns for tactility, Blues can be very irritating and the sound travels.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

Thnx for all the inputs!  Decided not to go with anything PS2 (only) and the noppoo looks great but fack I don't wanna get them a keyboard with such a racy name haha!

Gonna keep an eye out for a sale on QFR or similar I guess... only non-mech I keep looking at this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1N82853417

I tried it out at Office Max other day, kinda mushy but short throw(?) on keys isn't bad, much like the better tier of laptop kb.  The search continues!

Nobody suggested the Unicomp 103 key?

They have these keyboards in USB and also black with gray keys.

Edit: No wonder nobody suggested it!  My bad.  I should read more carefully.
