So you've never heard of the current disaster relating to all current 840 EVO SSD's?

The Model you've linked to uses that exact same type of memory, so be aware of the money lost due to perhaps the current OCZ style of company that can not fix their mistake of using poor quality, cheap memory as storage devices.

Word to the wise, if you want complete safety in storage, relating to SSD's - ALWAYS buy an Intel based product because it comes with the BEST replacement warranty compared to the current thieves at Samsung Central.

I'm assuming the 840 pro models aren't affected? I've always steered clear of the bottom of the barrel SSD's so I'm hoping paying a bit more has helped this time.

Then you should visit OCN and see the results of that so-called "fixed" firmware  .    Many still have severe drops in speeds despite their Magician software loading into memory to constantly refresh the old data.  Samsung's problem is that they used poor quality TLC NAND which is atrocious and not worth risking any of your work on.

People only found out about their problem product some years later after it was released everywhere, and more people still kept buying their dodgey gear.   Word to the wise, don't buy any of their SSDs ever, because you have other manufacturers that have a fine history of quality hardware releases such as Intel, plus their warranty is far superior than Samsung's when it comes to anything related to their SSD's.

I can vouch for what elrick says personally.

I have an 840 EVO and noticed after refreshing my windows rating score due to new GPU drivers that it had dipped to a new score. That low score came from HDD performance which had dipped to the lowest score. Read up on that issue and applied the band-aid update and it went back for now.

Ehhh I got it for dirt cheap stacking on discounts. All good things must come to an end nonetheless.
