Keycool Hero 84 - info wanted
« on: Wed, 10 June 2015, 13:19:56 »
Hi, I'm looking into buying the Keycool 84 currently on Massdrop. Now, I gather from a few posts, that the case is glued together, and I thus want to hear if anyone has had luck opening it and modding the switches? The older versions appear to have had PCB mounted switches, anyone know if this is still the accurate? Grateful for any assistance  :)

I don't have any info on the glued together case but I thought Keycool 84's were always plate mounted.

Old ones were plate mount with Cherry Stabilizers (Noppoo is plate mount with costar, and RACE was PCB mount).

Not sure about the Hero 84.

Right thx, but have you had it opened, and if that is the case, does it allow switch-modding?

If you are referring to aftermarket plates that have cut outs that allow for switch opening without desoldering, I have never seen a stock plate that was made that way.

Yes, just that, so the the only possibility would be if it was in fact PCB-mounted switches?

Pretty much with a stock board yes.
