Defective blue gateron switch?
« on: Mon, 22 June 2015, 16:08:12 »
So I just recently received my Varmilo VA87MR with blue gateron switches from Massdrop.  I instantly fell in love with the feel of gateron blues.

The only fault with the board is the fact that my space bar's switch doesn't click like the rest. I did remove the space bar to flip it around when I first received it, so I don't know if the switch was defective to begin with or not. Having removed tons of space bars and keys on mechanical boards, do you guys think that Gateron switches aren't as durable or well-built?

And what do you think I should do with the board? I have no experience with soldering so i'm thinking I might just sell it on here at a discounted price to someone who knows more about it. A shame because I really love the feel of these switches.  :(

You removing the switch wasn't the cause of the break, I can tell you that. More likely is that it was just defective out of the factory. Desoldering and soldering a single switch isn't very hard, you shouldn't really have a problem with it

Could it be possibly because it's a large, stabilized key? I noticed the click of the MX blue switch in the spacebar of my Ducky Shine 3 doesn't have as much of a prominent click as the other keys in my Shine 3.

Hmm, I dont think so. I removed the space bar again so I could compare it to the other switches and it legit feels just like a brown switch. Theres not even a click, just a bump.
