Howdy folks, I figured it has been a while and I wanted to update people on some recent activity and news.
As many of you know, I moved from SF to NC over a year ago and just started making keycaps again. The decision to move and start over in a brand new (to me) area, without knowing anyone, is not a new notion for me. That's how I moved to SF. I figured it wouldn't be that difficult to do it again. I'm not sure if it's because I'm older, or that the times have changed, but this move turned out not to be an easy move, and 2017 turned out to be a very difficult year. I won't get into specifics, but the combination of moving to an area that is decidedly less progressive than where I was before, coupled with family medical issues made it very difficult for me to do much of anything other than meet my basic needs, much less make keycaps.
So I took a hiatus. I took a break from keyboards and stopped interacting with the community. I needed perspective and to process what was now my new life.
Eventually, the itch came back. I'm not sure exactly what drew me back to keyboards and keycaps, but I do remember that when I started catching up on the forums and reddit and slack that a lot had changed. New faces in the community, new artists constantly popping up, and new techniques were being developed. The landscape had changed without me and it was up to me to play catch up. So I had to re-learn how to make caps. I was introduced to new tools and materials and began re-evaluating my current set of skills and had to decide how to advance my craft forward.
A lot of work, sweat, and tears have been invested into this upcoming sale and I'm both nervous and excited. Nervous because it'll be my second official sale, and excited because I hope you guys will like it.
As always, I'm happy to see that the community is as talented, friendly, and awesome as ever.
