Best cheap cherry red keyboard for counterstrike ?
« on: Fri, 11 September 2015, 08:51:55 »
Already have a cherry brown filco if I need it so Im just looking for a nice board with reds mainly for gaming.

Was thinking of the CM Storm QuickFire Rapid - Tenkeyless Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with CHERRY MX Red Switches

that a good choice ? Or should I go something more expensive? It doesn't absolutely need to be that cheap but it would be nice if thats all I had to pay. I would like for it to be fairly nice.

The CM Storm is a good choice though to be honest, I'm barely able to tell the difference between red and brown switches, except on switch testers.

I would say to go for either a slightly heavier linear switch or stick with what you got.

Agreed.

However, if you're really desperate for something with reds, go through the classifieds here and on reddit's mechmarket. You're virtually guaranteed to find something for much less than you would pay at retail.

I think a quickfire rapid will do you well. Good luck with your search!

QFR is a good solid leyboard, but do they still sell them?  I thought they'd been phased out in favour of the QFR-I.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Looking on Amazon, the Quickfire Rapid is at a good price at $83.22. If you want a numpad but want to keep the ten keyless form factor, the Quickfire TK is a few cents more expensive at $83.99. If you don't mind a full size format and abnormally large enter key, the Steelseries 6GV2 is at $79.99.

You're perfectly fine with going with the QuickFire Rapid. It's one of my planned future buys simply because it's cheap, TKL, and has Cherry switches. Don't worry about going more expensive unless you really want to. It's an entry-level board, but a good one at that.

You already have browns I doubt it would make much of a difference.  WarOwl is GE and if you listen to him play you can hear him using MX blues.  But if you still want a cheap mx red board the noppoo spyder is like $60 and looks pretty nice.  QFR was my first mechanical keyboard and I highly recommend it so you can't go wrong with it either.
