Hi & Thank You!
« on: Sat, 19 September 2015, 14:24:35 »
Just getting our feet wet and saying hi! We have been lurking for awhile, especially watching all the amazing artisan keycaps being made by so many talented people! Our family has been in the art world as glassblowers for 2 generations now, but we have decided to give keycaps a try as well, due to our overlapping love of computers! We are starting out with the traditional resin materials, but are experimenting to bring some glass keycap designs out as well. So we wish to say thank you to all the amazing artisans for the inspiration and awesome work they are putting out, to those sharing knowledge on production of them and to the collectors as well! We hope to learn lots more and look forward to hopefully being a part of this community!

Thank you!! We will hopefully have some ready to go very soon, we finally photographed a batch today and they are looking ready, but still a few little hidden hiccups to work out before final releases :) They are tricky critters for sure!! Much respect to all the makers out there for all the awesomeness they are making  :)

Welcome to Geekhack!

Something glass always stirs up interest around here, but I'm not sure anyone has successfully created anything in any quantity yet.

There are a few threads on the subject that might interest you:

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
