Hello, keyboard enthusiasts !
« on: Sun, 18 October 2015, 05:24:41 »
I've been reading this forum for a while now, so I've created an account earlier. I think now it's time to introduce myself  :)
I'm from France, and I started to use mechanical keyboards from almost one year, with a Ducky Shine 3 (MX Brown).
I liked it a lot, but I still wanted to try Topre switches, and especially the HHKB. Not long after ownuing my Ducky, I found someone who was selling one in my town for a good price. Then, all I had to do was send back my Ducky and buy the HHKB. And that's what happened.

I already like the way you think  :thumb: The Realforce 87U 55g is my absolute favorite keyboard there is, out of a retail box. Should you ever get a chance to pick up one of those, or want to expand your Topre I would highly recommend it!

Welcome to Geekhack!

Two good keyboards you've started your journey with :)

Do you have the HHKB yet?  If so, what do you think of it?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I'd like to try Topre 55g switches, so I might buy this board. Maybe next year  :).

I forgot to mention it, but I have my HHKB since last november. I think it's a great board, I really like the feeling of the switches, and the layout. At the beginning, I had some issues with its layout: before buying this keyboard, I only used fullsize ISO keyboard, and I looked a little bit at my keyboard while typing. Fullsize ISO to HHKB with blank keycaps wasn't an easy transition, for me. Changing blank keycaps for the printed ones helped me, and I learnt to type properly, so it's not an issue anymore, and I can really enjoy my keyboard.

Anything to HHKB with blanks is a difficult transition ;)
