Odd.  The cable is coming out of the case in a different place to other F122s.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

The 139xxxx are Model M numbers.

There were some PS/2 Model Ms that were programmable and nice. This is a good price if they really are new.
"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

Unless people have really started looking, it seems like there's an insane number of these suddenly appearing.

In a couple of month's time everyone will bemoan not having bought one of these when they were available.

M122s are plenty, F122s not so much. Rumour has it there's about to be about 100 or so F122s coming out after Cindy sorts things out on DT (shhhhh).

I can't find details anywhere on these particular part numbers, but the 139* format does indeed indicate they're Model M's. So I'd say these are M's that were made, for some reason, to resemble Model F's, with stepped modifier keys rather than M-style flat ones.

Unfortunately the seller included no photos of the backs, the only definite way to ID them. (Plastic = M, metal = F, plus they'd probably have labels that said "Model M" or "Model F".)

I wrote the seller and asked if they could send me a back photo or just tell me what the backs said, but they never replied. I don't know if they're too busy, or if they don't consider it worthwhile, or if they're actually trying to pass these off as F's. However, they knew they were 122-key boards, and they included all the info except whether they were M's or F's, so I'll let you draw your own conclusions.

I bought one. It's an unusual Model M.

We talked about it here...

Oh, ha ha, I thought this was that thread.

Plus, of course, these are PS/2, which no Model F would be—so, duh.  :?)

Yep, that thread definitely helps a lot!  I think I want one.  I'm sure I could definitely use it as a daily driver.

Well, I dunno... They are unusual boards, but if they're just M's, I don't see what the advantage would be of having the F-style stepped keys. Some people even complain about those here. If they were actually F's, it would be worth the trouble, considering how vastly superior F's are to M's. Okay, I'm just typing that in case Snowdog sees it, so I can get him going.  :?)

I'm not a fan of the stepped keys, but it would be something different and intimidating, mwah ha ha ha.

The Model F feels nicer, but comes with its own compromises. It will be unquestionably superior to the M in every way, if and only if one is produced in a full-size and/or TKL ANSI layout that can be cheaply and easily connected to a modern computer.
