did i brick it?
« on: Fri, 18 December 2015, 09:28:50 »
Hi all, one of my redscarfs is failing to connect to my computer ( and have tried two computers )

One works fine, the other isn't being found by windows, but I can boot it into its reflash mode to re-program the keyboard, but when plugged in normally, I got nothing.

Any ideas?

Is it in PS2 mode? Is that a thing on the Red Scarf?

Have no experience with a redscarf, but have you tried the reflashing guide here? https://geekhack.org/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=69282.0;attach=92536

I have no idea, I don't think there is a ps2 mode,

there isn't much info out there on these, and the pdf user guide is pretty poor english and doesn't cover much.

I don't know where to find the hex file to reflash the whole unit.

I've never seen it posted anywhere.

The guide I posted has all the information, it sounds like you'll wanna try #3, the Online Reflash, as that can provide the .hex to you as well.

I'd like to try the online reflash, but I can't get the online version to find the keyboard.

and I can't get etiher one to go into reflash mode

Did you go through the steps regarding Java? If you're not using IE, you may need to for this, as Chrome/FF dislike Java now.

i've done all that, and cant get online to work, and can't get offline to work either.

Not sure what the hell is going on with these things.

I've tried reflashing the eep several times, but can't get it to stick. The printer shows up, its clear of any documents in its queue, and no dice.

This is just a suggestion, but have you tried connecting either keyboard to a different PC?

anyone familiar with TKG and hex files?

From what I understand, I want to reflash the hex file to reset the keyboard, but am unable to with the tool.
