not so much a keyboard, but the (lack of) stabilizers on so many keyboards.
no stabilizers, badly-working stabilizers, crappy-feeling stabilizers.....
i have a few very nice keyboards, but barely use them because i get tired so quickly of the nasty stabilized keys.
and whoever thought it was a good idea to put a huge shift key on a keyboard, and then
don't stabilize it!? pfff
despite its size, it still only functions if pressed exactly in the middle. should've just gone with the Model F XT approach!
I strongly dislike HHKB. I tried it a few times, started to like it, then really liked it, but then got over the novelty and now it's just an overhyped rubber dome with better than average build quality. No better than my old Microsoft rubber dome. So many people have drunk the cool aid though.
it's silly to assume that everyone who likes the HHKB only likes it because of the hype.
i can understand why you'd dislike the hype around it, however.
that said, there's really nothing wrong with (liking) rubber dome.
any "keyboard newb"-guest that i've had over, who would type on a bunch of my keyboards out of interest, every single one of them liked Topre over anything else i have, including cherries, complicated alps, F-BS and M-BS. (are they all HHKB hype cool aid people now, too?)
so...
is it too expensive? maybe
is it hyped? definitely
but is it possible for people to legitimately like the HHKB? well, absolutely!
don't become a 'HHKB hater' man, it's silly.
