Do you call the large format printer a plotter, or is it actually still a proper pen plotter? No-one I know uses a pen plotter anymore, not for years, perhaps some still call it a plotter for nostalgia, I will file that on my winchester.

I know a guy who uses large-format plotters every day at his day job at a construction firm.
A few years ago, Adam Savage (who is a major movie fan) drew a really really detailed map of Middle Earth and released the file for free. My friend used the plotter to render it instead of a large-format printer because it had better quality for line-art.

I'd like to counter some of these:

ISDN is still widely used, particularly in business.

RS232 also very common still.

Intel Iris is pretty new, and getting significantly better with each revision.

The prefix "e".

Chip.

And the final one that annoys me is "livestream" instead of just "stream". I know they are semantically slightly different but the word "live" feels so obsolete whenever I see it used.

Agree on "e-", disagree on "live". How would you prefer people distinguish a stream that is a live feed from a stream of recorded media?

Think small offices in the middle of nowhere. Post offices. Banks. Anything that requires five-nines uptime. So tens of thousands of locations, across North America.

Although I had to get a USB to serial adaptor for my server so I could use my Link terminal (MX blacks in its keyboard).

Anyway, I have seen recent job ads where banks are looking for programmers who know COBOL.

While Intel Iris is very new, the word "Iris" as a brand-name for graphics hardware is not. And that was my point ... ;)

I have no experience on ISDN usage outside of North America, hence the disclaimer :)
