F internals 50/49 key IBM
« on: Fri, 22 January 2016, 18:32:50 »
Hey guys, I am looking at getting a 50/49 key IBM buckling springs board, but I want F internals over PCB, not membrane.

To my knowledge, these are going to be relegated to just the 4704 banking series, correct?

There are some other 49/50 key versions on ebay that look like they have the metal back plate styled like an F, and look like it has a foam and top plate similar to F, but it is clearly a Membrane inside.

Can anyone shed some proper light on this subject?  I would really like to replace my Orbweaver with an IBM.

These were pulled apart here a while ago, believe it was F-like construction with M-like mechanicals.

I'm sure there's details buried here somewhere.

Yeah, that's the impression I was getting from the ones that orhilacrin has listed on eBay.

I wonder if Ellipse would allow others to use his suppliers for F parts and someone design a pcb and case for a FGH36.  I think there could be enough interest for that to do a run.

From the Kish website it looks as if there was a 50 key that would be complete F

as the one in the picture does not have the ibm logo just like the others

Thanks for the link, any idea how often these pop up for sale?

honestly I could swear that I have come across some for sale, specifically these ones. I just can't remember where. It may have been a parts site when I was digging deep of a kish or f77. I am going to do a bit of looking when I get home from work (also thinking) to try and remember where and if I have actually seen them.

It was Ellipse. He found a bunch a while ago....

I think he sold them all but it couldn't hurt to hit him up about it.
