Which keyboard layout is this?
« on: Mon, 01 February 2016, 00:11:07 »
Hi,

I'm planning on getting my first mechanical keyboard but I can't quite find one that has the same layout as my current Logitech K750: http://blog.pc-magus.hu/wp-content/uploads/k750-920-002932.jpg

This looks like ISO layout, but what is different from other ISO layouts is that you also have the pipe key ("|") directly above the right shift key, which is very comfortable for a programmer like me.

I looked at various Topre keyboards, but none of their 105-key variants have this exact layout :-(.

Never seen a layout like that before. In theory, if you really wanted to you could just remap whatever key is typically where the pipe is on that keyboard to be a pipe. Then you could either use blanks, swap keys and have the wrong profile, or just leave the keycaps as is

That layout isn't different from basically any other ISO keyboard, except the Enter/Shift/Backspace/... keys are a bit narrower (0.5u I think).

The key between apostrophe and Enter is always backslash/pipe (assuming US QWERTY is used on the host computer), while the key between Shift and Z returns a distinct code (usually assigned to something like a pipe too).

That's known as US ISO. You won't find it on many keyboards.
