U9 looks way off. L9 is good, as well as CP.

L9 has far too much yellow.  3K is still the closest, IMO, though it's really a color between 3K and 2B and closer to 3K.

The main reason I'm very vocally against L9 is because is it's the same color as the OG Cherry Alphas that are a dime a dozen.  I have thin lasered PBT and GMK AE mods from EK on my keyboard at work and there's not much difference between that and L9 with N7 legends.  3K is a far less common color and looks very good and it makes sense to me to have something that will have a little more contrast and is less common while still looking good.

I am with Nubbs. I trust his opinion!

To me, the charm of the reference set comes from the two shades of green placed side by side. By splitting the two greens between mod background and alpha legends, this set completely loses that charm. I would prefer to see modifiers themselves in two different shades of green.

I need this for my GON.

Also, I know this is primarily intended to be a TA green colored set, but I'll also throw out support for 3B in the interest of replicating CCnG.  :thumb:

So, not 100% accurate (I couldn't use the spot tool to get a close enough color to what 3K really looks like), but here's a rough mockup with some of the ideas people were spitting out.  It's N7 on 3K Alphas and CP on AE and N7 mods.

And Keyboard Layout Editor link with rough color values in if anyone wants to play with it.

Thanks a lot nubs for the photos and the mock up.

Currently I am leaning towards the TA group buy set as a base, most extra keys would be the same, with some other extras.

I am almost certain on using the colors numbs has mentioned, which is N7 on 3K for alphas and CP on AE for mods.

There will ofcourse be CODE keys, I'm think CP on AE and one in N7, not sure to have the deeper green as base or legend. I have emailed GMK for the available CODE legend keys.

1800, let's see, definitely will have a short right shift. Maybe a 1U "0 Ins"  and a 1U "+". I don't think having any other keys for profile matching is going to be worth it.

I'd like to know what keys would you like to see in the N7 green.

The alphas are light grey, ccng had cream alphas right? And the alphas lengends are of a darker green than the mods.

Yeah those are the details and you're right. But they're a pretty close match. Just something that came to mind. Not that it's a bad idea or set.

Also, may be a bit of overkill but include 3 colors of spacebars? light grey; lime; dark  green?

I wouldn't mind this the grey and dark green since lime green spacebars have already been made

Will have to include 6 space bars (3 colors, 6.25U and 7U). :/

Let's see how this develops, maybe the mod set and alpha set will be different and we run it through MD for a better chance of hitting the numbers.

Yeah it's a bit much, hence why i said it might be a good idea to drop the lime spacebars(already around)

If you do a separate pack for the alphas then it might be a good idea to print some sublegends in lime green?

How about make the whole green on white set then put a splash of green on the esc key or other two or three keys?

IMHO it would be more like the alpha 610 and more eye candy this way.

I don't mean the green mod is not good,  but it is just too intensive for me after staring at it for 2-3 minutes.

By the way, if the Irish legends could be include that would be perfect! Maybe pad print?

Maybe a complete N7 on 3K set and a separate pack for AE mods?  I know I'd buy one full set and 2 AE mod packs.

I though of that and felt it would be the best way forward. Full N7 on 3K 104+ISO+Tsanga and a mod pack like Bluegaloo, mostly CP on AE with a few CP on N7 mods thrown in.

Regarding the Irish, since it does already exist in dyesub form I'm not sure how much interest it will gather. The Irish legends will have to be pad printed like the Cyrillic set that Originative did, primary legends double-shot, secondary pad-printed. If we go that route, I think AE (Lime) colored Irish legends would be best. In all honesty, initially I had thought of having the Irish legends too, but thought due to the existence of the dyesubs, that idea would get shot down, which might still be the case :))

The advantage with all of this would be  that those that already have the dyesubs will have a nice mod set to go with them, those that don't can get the GMK set.

I thought it was already discussed before that GMK lost the molds for the r4 CODE keys since it was brought up in billnye's thread.
The only thing they have now is r1 "Code"

Wasn't aware of that. However it does look like they have started to provide custom legends, understandably pricier.

That's a pretty nice colorway. We'll see b/c I'm still debating on that current pulse group buy (base kit, zambolos, planck, Fox, & forum kit). Not quite sure that I want to part w/ $217 for that keycap set. So, we'll see. Eitherway, if you get a gb going, will the planck &/or TKL kits include all the keycaps or will I have to buy the basekit? Sorry if someone already asked this b/c I didn't check all the comments.

Yes I'd love having an option for full green/dark green mods or grey mods, so then I could put in just as much green as I want and on the keys that I want. Kind of what is commonly done with splashing red/blue mods over dark grey in Round 5/6 SA caps.

As far as layout support goes, I feel Skidata was well thought for a base set and Bluegaloo was well thought out for a mod pack.  Miami Nights also had a surprisingly low cost for a base set with HHKB/1800 support (and true Control/Caps Lock swap!) although we would probably want to convert all the R0 profile keys to R1 and R5 to R4.

Great news guys, GMK are excited and fond of the color scheme we are going for. The mockups that I sent them were with the Irish sublegends. They don't have a bottom row CODE key buy they are going to produce the legends for this GB at no additional cost. Woo Hoo.

The basic pricing they have provided looks promising too. :)

Great news guys, GMK are excited and fond of the color scheme we are going for. The mockups that I sent them were with the Irish sublegends. They don't have a bottom row CODE key buy they are going to produce the legends for this GB at no additional cost. Woo Hoo.

No kidding. I'm definitely down for a set.

That IS great news! ;D

Are the sublegends on top or on the front?  I worry if they're on top they will fade over time, although with GMK's clear coating it might be many years before any fading is even visible.  Personally I think top looks better than front so it's kind of a win/win for me.
