I think it's Cenutry egg.
Oh yea I saw a guy on tv eat those and they were pretty gross. He was used to eating lots of gross stuff too.

They are kind of odd at first due to your preconceptions on how an egg should be in look and texture, but really tasty especially in congee(rice porridge).
It's funny because afaik I've only heard them called 1000 year old eggs. I don't think I've ever heard them called century eggs.

What!?!?!?!?? No, not at all. They are kinda sweet and a little salty. The texture can throw you off because the white is really springy like jello that been set with too much gelatin. The yolk is really creamy which you never really see and is almost impossible to do at home, unless you sous vide eggs to a certain temperature.
rant edit: As a chef and a food enthusiast, I really ****ing hate those shows. They go around exploiting this idea that what some other cultures see as delicious and normal is actually disgusting. It really bothers me as I've eated food from all over and hardly found something so terrible I wouldn't have a second bite. From chicken feet at Chinese dim sum, ox tail made by a Puerto Rican bouncer at a NYC bar I frequented, duck hearts made by a English Chef visiting NYC, liver cooked yakitori style from food carts, and all the other random innards(offal) I've eaten. There is sooooo much good food around the world that people don't try because its so far off from what they were brought up with or accustomed to.
The only thing I can't really eat is durian fruit, it's way too pungent to me, much like some crazy intense cheeses.
