I bought a second hand infinity kit a couple of weeks ago for a good price, and the one thing that it doesn't have is a working PCB (which I knew about before buying). It has the bent-metal hacker-style layout with alps switches and black DSA blanks (which also match the hacker layout).

Are there any other good 60% PCBs that are compatible with that layout and equally programmable? I could just bite on the last day of the massdrop and get a kit without switches, but I'm not keen on waiting till mid May (!!) for it. So, any other options?

You may want to check the GON Nerd60, but be aware that its programmability is well beyond and far easier than the Infinity's.

Haha, I'm very happy with "well beyond and far easier". Is the layout known to be compatible? If it's not really a known point, how can I check up on it before purchasing? Also, I'm not able to find information on this. Is that board compatible with alps switches?

You can carefully inspect the specification at GON's site, or write him directly. I have two Nerd60 now, but I am a bit busy to take them apart to check if the right side fits the layout you want, but I am pretty positive it does. Side comment, I had an Infinity, that I bought before I got the Nerds, and believe me, the two PCBs' design and build are in different categories, the Nerd is of professional design and quality, the Infinity feels like an aficionado custom build, that happens to be quite good for an amateur job.

Gon's PCBs are not ALPS compatible. Having looked at the picture of his Nerd60, I do not think it supports a 6u spacebar (there are only 2 positions for the spacebar available, one is for the 6.25u standard, the other is for 7u wkl).

The only 60% PCBs with ALPS support that I know about are infinity and hasu's Alps64. Both support the infinity hacker layout. (I'd be interested to know if there are more.)
Both are able to run TMK (which is enough of a "programmable" for me).

That's correct it only supports MX, my bad, I did not read the title.

Thanks, I've sent hasu a pm to see if he has any left over.

Np :D You did definitely pique my interest in the GON. Maybe in a year or so, I might get around to building a Zealio board, and I'll give GON the first consideration.

Hasu made a TMK64 PCB and a V60 with Hasu's USB-to-USB converter would work. I don't think they fit your layout requirement but they are 60% Alps options.

Turns out, hasu's pcb does support the Infinity "Hacker" layout :D

KBP is considering producing a fully programmable V60. They will probably produce a Cherry mx version first, possibly followed by a Matias switch version.

Perhaps KBP could be convinced to produce a DIY kit for a fully programmable V60 configured for Alps or Matias switches. You might try posting on their Facebook site and/or sending them an email:

It's programming is so easy, its cooper paths are strong and the SMD components are great, including the controller; but you should be aware that some extra cost is required if you want to have the diodes, resistors and SMD leds presoldered, or you can get some extra fun doing it yourself.
