I do like Florida, and I could likely make it, but Nashville is closer for more people. I can assist with Nashville planning. Nashville also nets us Booper. What does Florida get us?

Regardless, if it is on the East coast and I can make it, I could take at least two others with me. We could split lodging, and I'll take care of the gas.

Maybe we should have a poll for East or West coast and go from there? /shrug

We could do Louisville. It's a great little city, and it's in bourbon country!

More breweries than anywhere else in the country in Asheville.

Also TONS of stuff to do if we make a weekend of it. Biltmore estate home and vineyard tours, brew tours, the downtown is extremely walkable with lots of coffee houses, book stores, art stores, RECORD STORES (Harvest Records is legendary).

There are also lots of cheap hotels to rent. Another very easy way to handle housing would be to rent cabins in groups, this would be quite cheap if 8 or so people shacked up in a Cabin. For the NC meetup that is more or less already planned for Ashville around the same time we were already planning on doing this.

I'm not opposed to Asheville, but bourbon > beer, every single time. =P

Seriously though, Ash or Nash is the same drive for me. I'm on board for either, but I'm promoting Nash!

If it's going to be a driving distance (as opposed to flying), I'd love to do a carpool/convoy for people in the Texas area. Would make travel a lot cheaper.

I've got family in Asheville, so I'd support that notion. And as you mentioned, beer and vinyl. While bourbon is great, beer lends itself better to tours and general drinking comradery

There was a Portillos <5 min from last year's venue.

Chicago has great food, but the South has the best food in the country over all.  Also, BBQ.

I've added a poll to track interest.  I based the options off of Hoffs post that included organizers.  If there are other locations that people are willing to organize for let us know and we can add it to the poll.

I'm in, depending on location and work.  Work's not been great for freetime recently.

I'd second that Colorado thought though.  Many cool places there.

Also if Chicago is selected I do have an unused second bedroom and a blowup mattress.  Just gotta be ok with my cats.

Should definitely re-do the vote, allowing multiple options.  "List all locations you would attend", etc.

And as much as Chicago is great for me, I like to travel and see other places.  Swapping over to CA two years ago was awesome.

Depending on how fast the gh60 group buy gets wrapped up by the volunteers, maybe a station could be set aside for people willing to assemble a few boards? perhaps even an artisan/novelty raffle for the helpers if a maker feels so inclined (please).

I've always been against this kinda stuff at Keycon. Isn't fair for the person(s) providing services imo. Even if it's 2 days, there's not a lot of time for playing with keyboards, talking, and presentations as we've seen in the past. I'm also strongly in favor of the idea that if you're buying custom mechanical keyboards, you should be able to build your own boards. But that's just my opinion.

Good opinion and observation.

Frankly it really matters where people can find a reasonable place to set up a large conference room/hall.  Space is so important at these events.

I understand that there are a lot of enthusiastic people in Chicago, but it was just there last year, so having it somewhere else would probably be good.

And frankly, while I would love it to be in Colorado, I think having it a little further East would be good as well since 2014 was in Mountain View. That's why I think Nashville would be a good candidate as long as it's timed correctly to avoid any large music events.

That's fair. I was just thinking of it as a way to donate time to community, since some backers paid for assembly, but that money's gone with their shipping
