So I had ordered and paid for an ALPS Keycap set on 5/12/16
5/14 I Sent the seller a message asking politely if they knew when they planned on shipping
5/16 I sent another message again very politely asking the same thing
5/17 a tracking number showed up however still no contact from seller nor indication of receipt by USPS simply that a label was printed
5/19 I send another message stating the tracking number has not even shown receipt yet just that the label was printed..politely yet again asked for more info and when item would actually ship? Or if it had yet and possible USPS error?
5/20 Sent yet one more message getting a bit more impatient this Time simply asking the seller to contact me..I get things happen but a simple message would be great?
5/21  Today: Still no contact from seller USPS claims still no possession of item simply label was printed...

This person was hardly a big seller with hundreds of sales going or anything either... At this point.

Am I expecting too much for a simple response?

Would I be jumping the gun filing a Paypal complaint at this point pushing for a refund since the seller will not even contact me?

Never had anyone on EBay take THIS long to ship something and not respond to this many messages either..

Suggestions on what I should do at this point?

9 days to ship is ridiculous. No away message? What does the original auction page say they put as handling time? Expected delivery date?

Within 24 hours is when someone should ship something. Or on the next working day if the auction finishes on a weekend. Anything over a week is downright ridiculous and should result in negative feedback.
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

Just checked the original listing and it had it listed as "DELIVERY within 5-9 business days". Unless he/she plans on more or less overnighting the caps all the sudden...I don't see it.

However EBay is telling me I have to wait until 5/24 to file with the resolution center..

Will definitely without a doubt be leaving HORRIBLE feedback.

I get life happens I had a seller get into a car accident once and she sent me picture proof since it took 2 weeks to ship and I let it slide...things happen.   But not even contacting your buyer or responding to multiple messages I personally am not ok with.

  • I really should be working... not "working"

Agreed. I have a policy on ebay (when I'm selling) of shipping the next business day if the auction ends Sunday -> Wednesday,  the first business day after the weekend if the Auction ends on Thursday -> Saturday, and it's all written very clearly in my listings. I will inform you when I am able to send your package as soon as the auction ends (auto-reply that checks which day it is and if the next day is either Friday, a weekend, or a holiday). I think that's sort of a baseline to doing business on Ebay.

That's a good thing to do, set up an automated message. I just think that you have a responsibility, as people are giving you their money, to give them what they paid for nice and promptly.

Somewhere on the listing it there is a "processing time" and the default is 3 days, as I remember (business or calendar? I don't know).
I think the maximum it can be pushed to is a week, but I may be mistaken.

Extenuating circumstances happen but are rare (illness, weather, personal emergencies, etc).
And a major personal crisis might well push responding to ebay messages to the bottom of the priority list.

But reminders every other day for about a week followed by a message to ebay is entirely appropriate.
"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

In general, 3 days is the most I would wait. But if the seller do specify 5-9 days then 9 days would be the absolute maximum.

Just bombard him with emails and if he's not replying start a dispute.
