Hello from Melbourne, Australia
« on: Sun, 29 May 2016, 03:58:26 »
Hey everyone,
My name is Joshua and I am a 14 y.o from Melbourne, Australia.
In the near future I am thinking of building a 60% NeRD keyboard.
Here is what I am thinking:
PCB: NeRD 60 PCB
Switches: Cherry MX Blues
LEDs: Red LEDs
Case: TEX 60% Aluminum Case -Black
Cable: Custom www.Pexonpcs.co.uk usb cable
Keycaps: WASD Keyboards 61 custom keycap set + (Hopefully) Clack Candy Corn or Oktoberfest cap
Plate: Plateless :)
If anyone has any feedback/ideas I would like to hear them
Cheers
-Joshua

Welcome to Geekhack!

Unfortunately there's not many keyboard stores in Australia.

PCCG has a reasonable range of keyboards (in Melbourne too), but no parts.

MechKB has keyboards and (some) parts, in Sydney.

Apart from that, you'll end up ordering most of your parts from the US.

Have you also considered a GH60?  Now (or soon?) available at Techkeys: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=79930.0
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Oh whoops, another Austrailian; welcome! I guess shipping from mechanicalkeyboards.com could be a tad bit expensive

It is, but they provide excellent service (not sure about returns though), and sometimes it's the only option as there is not a huge range of keyboard stuff down here.
