Cap Lock LED on custom keyboard

I want to have an indicator light for Caps Lock on my keyboard.  Do I connect the LED directly into the Teensy that I am using?  If so, do I have to connect each of the LED connectors to a separate pins?

You also need a resistor - follow any Arduino plus LED tutorial, keyboards are not special electronically

Yea, I've always wanted my modifiers to have leds that behave with led momentarily on key down anyone have a quick tutorial?

Would you need those crazily small LED's that are smaller than a grain of rice? "chip scale package" or whatever they're called?

It's a custom so there should be a place to mount a 5mm or 2x3x4 LED in/on the switch, even if the PCB isn't cut for through-hole components.  It's just trickier to wire that way.
