[Ergodox] Draws too much current
« on: Thu, 30 June 2016, 02:18:32 »
Hi,

i run in a really strange problem with my Ergodox. After upgrading to a "better" 3,5mm cable[1] i got the error message, that the USB port is drawing too much power. After a few seconds, the computer freezes and i had to manually shut it down. After the second try, my pc won't power up. I had to change the power supply. With a no-name, cheap 3,5mm cable, there is no problem.

And my second problem is, that i have to replug the keyboard after a regular reboot, otherwise it won't register keystrokes.

Cheers

Is the new cable a TRRS? Sounds like it's only a TRS so is causing a short.  It should have 3 black bands around it (sorry if this is babying you, had to check :)))

Oh dear, not sure if that causes permanent damage - I hope not!
