[GB] SA Camping; Camp-Team China X Keyclack (Complete)
« on: Sat, 20 August 2016, 06:17:10 »
Oct 12 - We are expecting a Feb/March ship date.

More
With the great success of this set on Day 1, there will be a price break of $10 at 150 sets :).

-------------

Linky Link - https://www.keyclack.com/product/gb-sa-camping/

GB Starts August 21st, 8PM PST

After a huge discussion with Camp - Team china, we have agreed to allow up more than the original 50unit set limit for SA Camping.

We came to the conclusion that camping for a keyset sounded too ironic, and dissatisfying as it would lead to scarcity of this set. We all know how incredibly high the demand for SA is, and leaving this set incredibly limited would go against the community ideals we've build around keyboards. We want it to be available for people to have and enjoy.

We are allowing anyone to purchase the set, with a limit of 3 sets per order. Any orders with more than 3 sets will be canceled without notification. This still excludes any destination including China & Singapore.

The GB will officially start & close on the same date as stated.

Starts Today, August 21st, 8PM

Closes On September 6th, 2016, 11:59PM PST.

---------

Designed by Monkey Six of Camp-Team China, the SA Camping set was made by & for a group of friends.

The set will be limited to 50 international units for countries excluding Singapore & China.

This group buy is in support of the group buy with Camp-Team China. Keyclack is not the main entity for this group buy, but will work with Camp-Team to make this group buy run smoothly:)!

Please check over the Interest Check - https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=84101.0 for other details.

It looks intentional, so I'll ask: what is the meaning of the "MATA" key?

Funny you should say that, I noticed it too - says MATA on the preview currently which is surprisingly fitting, I'm Portuguese and "mata" is a word we use to describe a trail or forest zone in general.

Lovely set by the way, I'll definitely do my best to pick one up tomorrow!

Elastic does seem the way to go:P.

I do like managing my own server at an affordable cost. Still weighing all the pros and cons ;)

Linode is a nice middle ground for me. Very quick and easy to spin up new VMs, but they aren't transient. And they're reasonably priced. They have had their problems, but, well, I've had no issues with them.

By the fact that everyone doesn't use Shopify or AWS, especially at higher levels, that blanket statement is not necessarily true.  You just have to have the infrastructure, and there are tradeoffs to doing so.

I use LiquidWeb, and it's been sufficient for my (and my clients') needs.

Prefacing this by saying that there's a horror story like this for every provider out there. But in a past life I had a client who used LiquidWeb, and depended on LW's representations that VMs were backed up nightly. I told them that was a mistake; my mantra when it comes to storage is if you don't own the medium, you don't own the message. But whatever, long story short, someone installed Wordpress, forgot about it and they were hacked. And those backups didn't exist.

So once more with feeling, if it isn't possible for you to physically touch one copy of your (restore-tested) backups, you're not backing up.

There, somehow we've gone from discussing a really cute key set to me turning into a graybeard ranting about backups. Clearly, my work here is done.

Just purchased my first mechanical keyboard and this will be my first big boy key cap set and I cannot wait! Since this is my first purchase I have a question: Once the order taking closes on September 6th, 2016, 11:59PM PST, what happens next and how long does it typically take to receive the final product assuming all goes well? This is all new to me. PS: This is such a beautiful set. The creators are very talented!

Once September 6 passes, we go into payment process with SP. After that, it's the waiting game. We are trying to score the schedule after the amazing chocolatier that just finished on Massdrop last week.

Agreed that there's a horror story like this, from mismanagement, to miscommunication.  I've been with them since '99 with no issues.  And from my understanding, they do indeed take backups.  Just not on a regular schedule that would necessarily be useful unless you pay them extra for it.  I've used their backups before to restore, even though I don't pay for backups.  So, as with any provider, YMMV.  But the hosting and the support has been nothing less than stellar for me.

I was wondering if this set would work on the true fox white fox? I ordered the true fox plate, but if the extra keys aren't going to fit the smaller back space and the 1u slash key I might have to think about ordering a custom aria plate online.
:/ Didn't realize how little support there is for white fox.

There is plenty of support for whitefox...  GMK carbon, GMK skeletor, GMK Keyboard and co, SA amazing chocolatier, SA pulse, etc.  Almost every designer keyset produced in the past year has had whitefox support.

Yeah you're right the newest of those drops did support the true.fox layout, I looked at those and they didn't tickle my fancy. I was more just now realizing how annoying it may be to get older sets,

I was hoping since this is a newer drop that it may have the t.f layout support hopefully the row heights work out so I can put another Cap to replace back space, and the two other keys.

On the older drop, yeah there is a lack of support but tbh at that time there weren't many 65% keyboards.  While I'm not a huge fan of the whitefox, I'm glad it's bringing 65% keyset support.  I am somewhat surprised that this set doesn't have any 65% support seeing the late success of 65% keyboards, but I'm buying this for collecting because of it's exclusiveness.

The Singapore GB seems to be over  :( Is there a way for me to get it delivered there? I can't order when I select SG as delivery country.

Unfortunately, with agreement with Camp-Team, I won't be able to sell to Singapore/China.

I will ask though, and get back to you.

I know this is probably a bit odd of a request, but I didn't have funds when you started the wk-001 interest check and group buy. I wanted the purple and black one so badly it still hurts to look at the renders on key clack ahaha.

I was wondering if those would have another round, or if there are any extra that would be available to be sold. I have the makings of a nice purple and black set up and I know it won't be complete without the translucent purple eyed mech.

I know the first round has yet to be completed but looking at your store front waiting for sa camping has me in my feels about how I missed my chance at such a great concept. Good luck with sale and hope everything runs smoothly for those group buys and gmk hydro!

~EDIT; just saw the thread where you stated that the night version of the wk-001 would be limited to the first GB pre-orders (insert sadster)

Thanks for the heads up! Hopefully there won't be bots/traffic downing the site. The wait starts now I guess ahaha.

We'll have a few extras.

Also, SP has quoted a March delivery date. You'll have it shortly after that! :)

Will they be for sale on the site or do you have a waiting list? Kicking myself for passing up on these.

Hi everyone,

Long time no talk! We got an update for SA-Camping and it looks like Mid-March to get these out to people (from my end).

We'll have some extras as well for retail.

They will be available only AFTER everyone's set has been shipped. All international destination sets are insured as well for their value.
