Where do you folks order Diodes?
« on: Mon, 26 December 2016, 18:45:14 »
I ordered 100x 1N4148 diodes on Amazon.  They shipped from a Chinese seller, with a 1 month shipping quote (and no option for faster shipping).  1.5 months later, I've given up waiting.

Anyone know a reasonably priced source for diodes, based in North America, and reasonable shipping rates?

Sites like Mouser, and Digikey have fairly expensive shipping for something worth only a couple of dollars.

Edit:  I should say that I'm in Canada.  I already checked out mechanicalkeyboards.com, and their free shipping is US only.  Canada is $13.99.  No dice

Ebay.ca, and set it to search Canada only or use ebay.com and search US only.

Between Sept and November you need to be careful ordering slow-boat from China as that is when all the Christmas stuff starts getting onto the boats. Ship times using Chinese economy shipping can depend on the port or even the hour that it arrives at the port, always assume it will take forever.

I try hard to avoid it unless it's something I'm buying as a spare or can't get it any other way.

Thanks for the tips.  I didn't even think to check ebay.

Yeh I notice that shipping from China is really bad around Nov/Dec.  Whenever I order something from China, I'm usually only doing it if I'm prepared to wait 30-60 days.

They are in Canada. This are very similar to 1n4148. They even share the same datasheet.

11 cents each is kinda pricey.  I want to order about 500.  They're 2cents each on digikey.ca

I'll probably order from digikey, I was just hoping I could find free shipping
