Man I can't believe nobody picked up that Compaq MX11800 - I would have bought it except I already have 2 of them.  Ohwell maybe I'm the only one who likes PCB mounted cherry browns with standard layout for the main keys in a spacesaver format. :P

Saw one for $19 at a store down the road. Dirty as cursing at mudwrestling ****s. Thought it was blacks. Browns are worth $19 maybe.

Compaq mx11800 + Cherry g80-11900 ($20 shipped from chicago liquidators) = instant board with cherry reds with relatively small form factor.  Good for gaming.

PCB mounted cherry switches require no soldering.  Just pop the top off the switch, keep the cherry brown switch, use the cherry black stem, replace the top.  It's very easy as long as you don't lose any springs.

Plate mounted cherry switches must be de-soldered (plate mounted includes filco, das.. PCB mounted are all the cherry boards, MX 11800..)

What's the little doodad on the Focus boards under the logo door?  Maybe a switch or something?  I can't tell from the pics. :(

Probably an XT/AT switch if you want to use the board with your modern PC or your old IBM XT computer

Friend has a 5001, on that board it is a set of two switches which together function as an AT/XT switch.

No problem. And just in case you're not aware, the function of the AT/XT switch is to allow the keyboard to function with the IBM PC and XT keyboard protocol which was pretty much out of use on computers by the end of the 80s. AT mode gives you (of course) AT compatibility, PS/2 compatibility, and thus USB compatibility using a suitable converter.

Anyone want me to grab a photo of the DIP switches under the logo plate on a 5001?

Thanks!  I didn't know how that all worked.  I didn't get into computers until around '95 or so.  My first system was a donated PII 233.  The keyboard was a NMB with AT to ps/2 adapter.  I still have the board actually.

Yea, I saw his shipping is almost insulting.  $17.00 bucks should cover UPS second day air let alone Postal parcel post.  But that board includes the dust cover.  That alone probably makes it worth a few bucks more I'd think.
