What Is Your Personal Limit For Concurrent Group Buys?
« on: Sun, 28 May 2017, 20:12:52 »
I was adding up the money I've spent on things I do not yet have in my possession over the past six months, and it's rather staggering. I'm currently in five group buys, all of which have yet to be produced/delivered, and I'm thinking of joining at least two or three more.

What is your personal limit for the number of group buys you will participate in at the same time? There's quite a bit of cool stuff at the moment, but it's a lot of money to throw at stuff that has not been realized yet.
Maybe they're waiting for gasmasks and latex to get sexy again.

The world has become a weird place.

I do not understand this word 'limit' you speak of.  :))

If it makes you feel any better:
Penumbra SA
Godspeed SA
Yuri GMK
Elven/Green SA
Rama M65-a
LZ CLS
Mira SE
Duck Lightsaver V3
E8-V1
300x Kailh speed switches
360x Cherry silent blacks
Planck
XDA mito caps

...those are all groupbuys i've paid for and are waiting on.

I live by a rule of 3 with consumerism I tend to overspend on. No more than 3 active GBs until one of those is IN HAND.

Rule of 3s. Learn it - stick to it

... except with shoes and video games

I don't know how you are able to stick with that. FOMO is wayyyy to strong in me.

I wrote a small system to help me keep track of them.

I think I had about a dozen (here and other places) on the go at one stage.

I had to do that because apart from GBs sometimes taking so long to run, things take up to a month to get shipped down here too, and I kept losing track of things.

Which means that I did get some nice surprises when something I had forgotten about suddenly turned up, but also meant I risked losing things I had paid for and which were lost or forgotten.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I haven't ever been above 5 I think.

I think GB's are hardly worth the wait usually.  like GMK caps are more than OG caps even really good one i.e. new old stock every time no matter MOQ.

I'd rather search for vintage stuff, find it one day, and get it after a 1 week not 1 year.

SA is just getting to be a **** show now.  Glad I don't like the profile

Well, I joined Moon TKL and SA Carbon, so that makes seven for me now.  :'(

This was my 2016 epiphany as well. I like it, until i have to actually have to use it for an extended period of time. I like the DSA sets though I'm really just hunting for classy looking GMK mix and match sets at this point.
