Looking for a hot swap keyboard
« on: Wed, 07 June 2017, 08:51:02 »
Hi,
so I was looking for a hot swap keyboard. It should have an ISO (German) layout with possible RGB lighting. The size  doesn't really matter but TKL and full-size are preferred. I know that there are keyboards like the Glorious PC Gaming Race and the Input Club K-Type but these all have ANSI layout, so could there be a way of "changing" the layout to ISO? Well I just hope that somebody knows if there any keyboards like that!

The easiest way to get that is to get a keyboard kit (pcb (that supports ISO), case, etc.) and then get Holtite sockets.

Holtites are installed very EASILY and also available for the led holes, so you can have it fully hot-swappable.

Ok that would be good. I've also alerady looked up DIY kits but I'm not sure which ones are the best for hot swapping, because I've read about PCBs that don't support the holtites. Do you know any kits which could be compatible?

I myself have them in my RedScarf II+ ver.C (RS68), RedScarf III ver.A (RS96) and Sentraq S60-X at the moment. They are a perfect fit with those PCBs. (And got both gold and tin and for that small difference I suggest getting the gold plated ones)

Seems like you're from a German speaking area? (There are cheaper sources (shipping) within Europe such as MOUSER electronics (I'm from Switzerland, got them there).)

There might be some on TaoBao or Aliexpress...

Didn't find if it's compatible, but the Phantom is a cheap TKL PCB, but you'll wanna go sure they fit on that.

keycaps were extra (did come with a full GMK set though (which includes ISO))

But you can get good quality sets for a cheap price via aliexpress or over the classifieds thread

I switch between the two layouts frequently. You get used to it pretty fast though... and if you need special symbols and just wanna stick with ansi, use the ANSI international keyboard layout (software layout given by your OS)

Well, then I'll probably just get the Glorious PC Gaming Race keyboard, since every criteria, except for the layout, is fulfilled.
