Happy to see this set slowly gaining traction again!  Is there any chance for icon mods a la GMK 9009?

oh my goodness it's alive for real! I would love this much more in SA or DSA, but I don't think I can resist that Assembly kit! Love the two comprehensive base kits -- keeps things really simple.

It ran in SA last year and just shipped out a month or two ago.

Oh, I didn't realize it was that recent! Found that thread now.
I think the Assembly kit option for this this GMK version makes it much more useful to me than the single kit of the Maxkeys run, actually.

Thank you for your response. You see it from a bigger picture than I do so I know you'll do what is best to hit MOQ. I just liked the blanks and was excited what that might have meant for the pricing. I personally would have liked arrows better than the duplicated R4 caps but you already answered that on MD (neutrality/pricing). I do like the colorway and lack of sublegends better than the SpaceCadet GB. Thank you for your work bringing this set to life!

Interested but I probably won't join if the Assembly kit comes with its own alphas. I want support for both standard and ergo/ortho layouts and the duplicate alphas has made that too expensive with recent sets like Space Cadet and Serika.

So this set is long overdue, and it's gonna be a bit more since I don't want to overlap with Chocolatier and the upcoming second round of Carbon, but we will be launching this for real on November 26th 2018!

NA Proxy: kono.store
EU Proxy: mykeyboard.eu
ASIA Proxy: zFrontier.com

Pricing for base kit will be a few bucks more than GMK Chocolatier since I have space keys in mine. Assembly Kit will be around the same, while it does have less keys, it also has a MOQ of just 100 compared to 250 of the base kit.

The only thing left to do on my list is figuring out if I can make the space keys convex, I'll update on that later on. Other than that, the kits are softlocked so that we can go ahead with the launch next month.

Am I the only one looking for a Minivan backspace (R2 1.75u) in the Assembly Kit? Adding a single key could extend the utility of the kit in the world of 40% board.

There is no 1u R4 "00" to pair with the 1u "0" on some numpads.  Is the "00" not very common?

Don’t think you’re going to see any minivan support in sets from some of the big name keyset designers any time soon.

Yea very unfortunate but I guess it is what it is. The decision is theirs and we just have to live with it I'm supposed. I neither support nor oppose it. On a bright side that might save some dollars for the kit? I remember there was a guy kept whining about it and had a small feud with them here and on MD despite Zamb already came out and confirmed multiple times for not supporting his minivan. Lol dude was kinda butthurting and can't move on

Understand it should be a hard decision. Ppl who wanna join GB are always focusing the board they got. GB organizer got much more than that to concern. As you said, very unfortunate that missing the set on a minivan because of a single keycap. Anyway, Assembly Kit is still irresistible in my opinion

yeah, it sucks that support isnt there for the board, but yeah, it is their decision and doesn't really matter why.

At least imo, kit support has become a little crazy. I know that it's a delicate balance, and that you want to support as many boards and layouts as possible. But it's not the keyset designer's fault that a small number of people chose to use and support a non-standard layout, and there is no requirement for them to provide support for every single board or layout out there. that's why, just like a lot of us in the community, I have a love/hate thing going with all the addon kits. on the one hand I love that people add support for the boards I use, but I'm not always fond of paying crazy prices for a bunch of keys I won't ever use. For example, I'm not happy that I'm going to have to buy both the Base Kit and the Assembly Kit just so that I can get some grey space bars for my split space CA66. But if I want to use them I don't have much choice.

I love Oblotzky's approach on the distribution of the set. Having the spacebar kit included in the base kit helps to drive the cost down and makes it a lot easier for an all in one solution. Very nice! Will definitely grab a set myself.

Thanks, tho there will be a change regarding some spacebar stuff to get the base kit down a bit more. The pricing wasn't as comfortable as I'd like it to be, the new one should be much better.

Hi Oblotzky. With group buy being just right around the corner, do you still think making change to the kit would be a good move? I mean I'm in for a set regardless because this has always been my favorite colorway, but I'm just worried the last minute modification might potentially sway people away from the set. Also, I'm not sure if this is the right time to ask so forgive me, but after GMK Calm Depths, do you consider having a SA Calm Depths R2 but through SP this time? I really really wish you'd at least give that a small consideration, even just a thought :thumb:

I was wondering why the "~" key included with the Assembly kit is done in the Alpha colors and not the Mod colors.  Is this an oversight or am I missing something obvious?  I just don't know where it would go on an Ergo or Planck/Preonic board on R1 where it would need to be in Alpha colors and not Mod colors.

Interesting.  I have never seen Preonic done like that.  Most pics I've seen use mod colors all the way up both sides.  That is why I was confused, because every layout I've personally done with mine has used a mod colored "~" in the upper left (as long as I could find one).

A little bit disappointing since now I'd have to pick up both kits to cover my split layout, but understandable. Will still join and support you tho. Was the saving pretty significant to push your final decision towards this kit configuration?

I reworked the kits a bit and decided to go for a separate space bar kit after all to alleviate the base kit

Moving forward with the launch on Monday  ;)
A little bit disappointing since now I'd have to pick up both kits to cover my split layout, but understandable. Will still join and support you tho. Was the saving pretty significant to push your final decision towards this kit configuration?

Mind sharing the layout you are using? It sounds very odd that you need to pick up both base kits in order to fill it.

The only real change I did was move the spacekeys outside of the base kit. I wanted to take off some weight from the base kit as we saw some price hikes in recent times and would like to combat that trend by not including every imaginable key in the base, instead trimming it down to what we saw a year ago or so. But 6u spacebars and spacekeys will still be available to those that need them.

Oh sorry for being misleading. By both I meant the base and the spacebar kit. I planned to use a standard 60% with split spacebar. Previously when you had both the spacebar kit and the base kit combined into a single kit, I would only have to pick up the base instead of two separate kits (base and spacebar) and  not suffer from split kit pricing. But that being said, with the market being over saturated with GMK kits, I can definitely see where you are coming from and I hope this is the best overall compromising decision. In the end I'd rather pay a little bit more and have my order locked in rather than not meeting MOQs.

question, do you plan to launch it on en.Zfrontier for rest of Asia(apart from China)?
because I only see the option for Zfrontier which is all Chinese (I can't read those lol)
If not I guess I'll have to deal with shipping cost from Kono store

I'm 100% sure it'll be on the English site.
