Alright, time for a status update; some of it's good news, some of it not so good.
I've reached the end of the current batch of US orders and next week will be the beginning of the proxy order batches. Most of the proxy batches are relatively small, so I expect them to go fairly quickly. Of concern there though is my next point of discussion.
USB Micro: As I mentioned before, I think my pro micro I was using to test Micro cables may have somehow been sending false positives as I've had two cases of delivered Micro cables showing odd behavior and not connecting completely. Currently I'm not sure at all why this could be happening since my test pro micro was connecting and I know of no reason why Mini would work with the length of these cables and not Micro. To try and fix this, I will be getting ahold of a non-pro micro keyboard with Micro port to test on and will be testing what I possibly can to see why this isn't working. I suspect it may be related to power draw over the length of the cable but will need to test to find out. For anyone with a Micro order you'll be receiving an email tomorrow saying basically what I've said here to explain the issue and give options. Anyone that's already received their cable will get a new confirmed working one once I've figured that out, anyone yet to receive one won't have to do anything to get an "updated" one. If changes need to be made to the design of the cable I'll verify that is acceptable before shipping.
Type C: C has much less available for the DIY market than Mini, Micro, B, or even something like HDMI, which I have no clue why you would try to DIY. After so much time spent digging through search results, I still am unable to find connectors that are compatible with these cables, which are so far out of USB spec due to the intentions of the design. After this much time has passed, I'm not confident that spending much more time and delaying orders further, especially in the case of the proxy orders, would allow me to find connectors that would work for something so far out of their intended usage. Because of this, I must very regretfully state that I am unable to complete orders with USB C connectors and I sincerely apologize that this had to happen. Anyone in the GB with a USB C order will receive an email sometime tomorrow giving them the options of changing their connectors, complete refund(single cable order), or partial refund(multiple cable order).
Sorry that this update had to be such a Debbie-downer, the fact of the matter is that it's taking all I've got at the moment just to keep throwing myself into getting these orders out. Everything for these was supposed to be as simple as putting ends on an unsleeved cable and out the door, but here it is taking almost an hour for an order, more if it's a double/triple order, as well as the overall delay. I'm at least happy that the people that have gotten their orders so far are liking them; the fact that so much work has to go into them coupled with so much of this GB going wrong so far, these new updates included, is enough some days to make me reconsider getting out of bed to try doing anything in a day. I hope that people continue to enjoy their cables, despite my own shortcomings involved in their creation, and I'll try to keep on going until they're done. I just need to learn from my experiences this time around and use that to make future rounds a better experience.
